A little more descriptive insight to the event, “Ruach.”
The Hebrew word, “Ruach” was chosen as the title for an upcoming Spirit filled evening with other believers. Ruach means, wind, breath, or spirit. We first encounter this word in Genesis 1:2 in connection with God’s Spirit, Ruach Elohimhovering over the formless earth.
Actually, one might better say that the event chose that particular word for itself; you might even call it a vision. A small group of folks with Jerry and Shea Nichols at the helm have begun organizing this spiritual gathering to be held on August 1st, at the Cowboy Church of Leon County. Jerry recognized that there is need for authentic spirit filled worship, specifically for couples and felt that God was leading him to help fill that void with this coming event. Prayer and the Spirit’s leading has culminated in the development of a format and an atmosphere for husband and wife to worship our Lord and Savior together! This is not only meant to be a time of worship, but a total immersion in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Married folks are called to become one, to be in total unison. We find the first mention of this concept in Genesis 2:24, but it is so much more than a mere concept, it is an edict. This point was argued by Jesus Himself with the religious elite in Matthew 19. In order to be “one,” we must be in agreement and submission to one another. For you men out there, the spiritual health of your marriage is your responsibility, and you will have to answer for it one day. The gravity of your role as the husband cannot be overstated.
The husband who loves his wife and cherishes her will have a wife that not only respects and honors him, but he will also find that his wife exudes love for him and their children. Love must be nurtured, and guys, that too is your responsibility. Thus, it is the husband who brings love into the marriage and sustains it. He sustains it by staying intimately connected to Jesus. This in turn enables him to maintain his love and intimacy with his wife. By the way ladies, contrary to popular belief, wives are in fact told to love their husbands (See Titus 2:4). I know we can be hard to love at times but please continue to do so.
The goal of Ruach is to bring couples closer together via the conduit of worshipping together. As the adage goes, “A family who prays together stays together,” it is our hope to make this event more conducive to couples praying together and worshipping together. And gents, if you want your marriage to take on a whole new level, just start praying with your wife and watch her love for you and her Savior grow.
Most are familiar with Jesus’ statement in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Think of that! What a remarkablepromise! What is more is the statement He made which actually precedes this one, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. (Matt. 18:19) This “…anything that they ask…” would have to of course be something in His will. A prayer to be closer to Him, to enable you to worship Him with your spouse is definitely in His will and will be answered with a resounding “Yes!”
While Ruach specifically targets married couples, all are welcome. We want everyone to come and give Him the praise and worship He so richly deserves. It is sure to be a wonderful, as well as wonder filled evening of worship and fellowship. Please stay tuned as more information and updates are added. We look forward to seeing you there on August 1st!
