A Word from Pastor:

Some of God's promises to His children have been fulfilled, some are now being fulfilled, some are always being fulfilled, some eventually, but all are sure. For example, Psalm 103 begins with several promises: 1) Who forgives all your sins, that's continuously for Christ's sake. 2) Who heals all your diseases, all in His time, some in eternity. 3) Who redeems your life from the pit, that's the resurrection of your body when Christ returns. 4) Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, that's always, not only when it feels like it. 5) Who satisfies your years with good things, indeed, more than we can number;, and all things work together for good (Romans 8:28) Count it all joy! (James 1:2)

A Word from Pastor:

Most people are amazed at the marvels of modern technology -- what computers, cell phones, AI can do. I'm still amazed by and prefer to use pens, pencils and paper. Just think of how many words a little pen or a pencil can make on paper. Who invented these? And paper, what a miracle, it's made from trees. That's what they tell me anyway. And paper and pencils don't break down or need electricity. Did you ever have to call a pencil repairman? Just get another one for a nickel -- or a dime with inflation. How much does it cost to fix or replace a computer or cell phone? And with pencils and paper you don't have monthly charges. And you don't have to buy pencil insurance. I'm sticking with pens and pencils and paper. Have a blessed day.

A Word from Pastor:

The go-to question commonly posed to parents of gender-confused children is: "Would you rather have a dead son or a live daughter?" Or vice versa.

In states that have laws restricting puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and mutilating surgeries of minors, there have been no increases in teen su***de rates. (Gender-confused children do seem to be more prone to acts of violence.) And there have now arisen lawsuits against counselors and practitioners by those who now regret being intimidated toward irreversible treatments/mutilations that enrich the providers at the expense of victims.

"In the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." (Genesis 1:27) "You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:13-14)

A Word from Pastor:

According to a National Center for Science Education survey from last year, 8 out of 10 Americans believe in Evolution. This is a tribute to the power of baseless indoctrination and thorough brainwashing, human irrationality and gullibility, supported by no scientific proof or evidence, contrary to all laws of science and probability.

You don't have to be a Bible believing Christian to know that, but it helps. 2,500 years ago the Greek sage Socrates concluded there must be "an intelligent being" when he simply considered how perfectly formed the human face is -- the eyes and ears (and why are there two of each?), nose, mouth, teeth, facial muscles -- able to express the wide range of human emotions: happiness, sadness, doubt, love, hate, etc. That would be just one of thousands of unanswerable questions and non-sensical assertions, which grow with each scientific discovery and simple observation. And if evolution occurred for millions/billions of years, I'm still waiting for someone to show me one incontrovertible example of evolution happening now -- or that it ever happened.

"Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: 'I AM Yahweh, Who made all things, Who alone stretched out the heavens, Who spread out the earth by Myself, Who frustrates the signs of liars, and makes fools out of diviners, Who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish." (Isaiah 44:24-25) "They are without excuse . . . they are worthy of death." (Romans 1:18-32)

A Word from Pastor:

Our tendency in the Lord's work, or any other endeavor, is to assess our current resources and calculate outcomes solely on that basis. If we do not currently have enough (money, energy, strength, knowledge, personnel, opportunity, ideas, etc.) we conclude that the Lord is not in it and we cannot do it. But these are exactly the kind of situations the Lord likes, and even deliberately takes us. It gives Him the opportunity to act and glorify Himself and exercise our faith. Our congregation started our Christian school 35 years ago with $5,000 and going against the advice of our district. We often have faced obstacles that were bigger than us and our resources. And still do. Man's extremities are God's opportunities.

"The Everlasting God, Yahweh, the Creator of the ends of the earth, Does not grow weary or tired. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weary and tired. And choice young men stumble badly. Yet those who hope in Yahweh Will gain new power; They will mount up with wings like eagles; They will run and not get tired; They will walk and not become weary." (Isaiah 40:29-31)

Do it again, Lord.

A Word from Pastor:

I recently spoke to a parent who is sending a child to Our Savior New American School. The parent has many years of experience teaching in a public school and told me "no morals are taught, and maybe there was one other saved teacher on the faculty." The public school's gospel is have a strong image, self-esteem . . . self ad nauseam. Nothing about God, nothing from the Bible, no sin, no Savior. The teacher/parent I spoke to told of past experience in New Age, psychic ideas, etc. before converting to Christ, and is happy to have found a school that honors God, His Word, our Savior.

Our nation's malaise is the result of child abuse: murdering (abortion), mutilation (transgenderism), indoctrinating children and young adults where God's Word is canceled, God's Son is expelled, and Satan's ideas, deceptions, and temptations are standard fare. Pray for School Choice, this generation and our nation. We are inviting the wrath of God, experiencing His warnings, and only His patience has spared us -- so far. As God said of his formerly chosen ones: "All day long I have held out My hands to a stubborn and rebellious people." (Romans 10:21 quoting Isaiah 65:2)

A Word from Pastor:

After a sporting event, the winner, never the loser, is often interviewed with the typical question: "How were you able . . .?" Occasionally, if the winner is a strong Christian, he might say parenthetically: "God is good" or something similar.

To that I add, "Yes, He is. Even when we lose a game -- or suffer in life. God is involved in all the experiences of our lives. And whatever they are, God is good, all the time. And everything happens for a purpose -- His. And it's all good -- for us. "All things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28) So we can and should "In everything give thanks." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

A Word from Pastor:

Our Savior Lutheran Church (LCMS), where I pastor, is not great success by worldly standards, i.e., in numbers of members, dollars, etc., but occasionally we get indications that our influence is spreading. Recently I got a voice message from my brother Ken in Texas, who was listening to www.thebridgelongisland, a new original music and message website which was recently started by our summer pilgrimage's bus driver, who is now attending and serving in our congregation. I mentioned his new station in last Sunday's service, which goes out on YouTube each week (The Voice of Our Savior). A Word from Pastor:

Last Thursday I attended and supported the annual fundraising banquet for Soundview Pregnancy Center, which caringly listens, loves, encourages and provides for pregnant women and their preborn children. Such centers outnumber Planned Parenthood centers 3 to 1 throughout the United States, and unlike (Un)Planned (Un)Parenthood, get no money infusions from the federal government. Due to violence, arson, etc. against pro-life centers (and churches and Christian schools--and lawfare against those peacefully praying outside abortion centers), Soundview has to protect itself by removing any signs or identification from it's building (in our neighborhood).

Violence is a signature response of the Left (Wrong) against the Right in all that stands in their way. Assassinations, terrorism, riots, bombings, loud profanities always seem to go in one direction--Left against Right, ungodly vs. God-fearing, Democratic against Republican. Opposing civil dialogue and debate, defunding police, freeing criminals, disarming law-abiding citizens, unvetted immigration, election cheating, exaggerated medical and climate scares, energy strangulations, sexual and gender confusion, etc. are all designed to facilitate the destruction of our inherited freedoms and way of life as one nation under God and replace them with Socialism/Communism/Marxism which has only brought tyranny and mass misery and death wherever it has gone.

"Therefore look carefully how you walk (and talk and vote), not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:16)
