A Word from Pastor:

In any marriage, the most important relationship is the relationship each has with God through Jesus Christ, based on His Word, faith obedience, worship and prayer. That is the key to lifelong loyalty, love and happiness. And because we are all with a sinful nature and frequent failings -- and live with the same sort of flawed human being -- we will need a daily dose of the medicine of confession and forgiveness, received from God through Christ, and given and received to/from each other. Even as we pray in the prayer our Lord taught us to pray daily (as in "Give us this day our daily bread"): "Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who have sinned against us." That includes those we live with. Pray this prayer along with other timely petitions together daily, and have a habit of worshipping weekly with your brothers and sisters in Christ, so that what God has brought together, He can keep together and grow together, and no man will separate.

A Word from Pastor:

No matter how idyllic a courtship or wedding, sooner or later and quite often you have to deal with different feelings than the ones you had on your wedding day. There are differences in needs, desires, perceptions, backgrounds. And there are challenges and decisions and temptations and disappointments. There are s*xual differences, money matters, sicknesses and setbacks, children and other people. Bottom line: To survive and thrive you need a foundation stronger than fairy tales and feelings. You need a blueprint other than what Hollywood movies and romantic novels offer, or what the culture conditions us to accept and follow.

You need God, the Inventor of male, female and marriage. You need to know and follow His Owner's Manual: God's Word, the Holy Bible. You need a living relationship with Jesus Christ. You need the direction and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. You need to be more committed to the Lord, even more than to each other -- or to your feelings. Otherwise, you are likely to be another sad statistic of modern life, or at least much less than God intended when He brought Eve to Adam. (to be continued)

A Word from Pastor:

June is traditionally a month of graduations and weddings. Some now make it a month celebrating defiance against God's order of Creation. Recently I have been asked to officiate at services of anniversaries/affirmations of marriage vows taken in the past. The next few pastor's words are from my homilies on these occasions.

As children we hear fairy tales and see animated movies. A recurring theme: Two people, a young man and a young woman fall in love and overcome all obstacles they face to keep them apart. The story concludes with a wedding and the words: "And they lived happily ever after." The message conveyed is: Once you are married -- YOU'VE MADE IT! There are no more challenges or obstacles to our wedded bliss. And according to this scenario, the strong foundation of this relationship is the feelings we have for one another -- which never change or vary.

The problem with this is it doesn't work that way in real life. (to be continued)

A Word from Pastor:

A requirement for graduation here at Our Savior Classical Christian School is to research, develop and orally present a senior thesis on a topic of their choice. I was impressed with the topics chosen and the quality of the presentations, including:

"Mandatory Reporting Laws: An in-depth study of the severely flawed mandatory reporting laws in New York State."

"ABA Therapy for Severe Autism: The importance of ABA Therapy for children who have severe Autism."

"Affirmative Action: An argument on how Affirmative Action should be abolished in the United States."

"Sports Gambling: Sports gambling at the collegiate and professional level should be outlawed by the federal government."

"Praying to the Saints: An argument that the traditional practice of praying to the saints should be removed from Catholic doctrine."

"U.S. Space Force: An exploration of the importance of funding the United States Space force and its contributions."

"The Moral and Ethical Problems of Abortion: An argument on how abortion is unjustifiable and should be illegal in thew United States."

I am confident our graduating seniors are equipped and ready to make a positive impact for God's Kingdom and our nation.

A Word from Pastor:

I go to Stony Brook Medicine to get care for my hip, which has been victimized by the Second Law of Thermodynamics. I am confident that I get good, knowledgeable treatments. However, part of the appointment process requires me to give my preferred pronouns. If this is just a roundabout test of the state of my mental health, okay. I hope it's not an indicator of the scientific knowledge of the institution -- or the affiliated university.

A Word from Pastor:

"We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil." (2 Corinthians 5:10) In the end, no one else's opinion is going to matter, including your own. No lifetime of awards or accolades or achievements or accomplishments will matter. Just this: Is Christ your Savior and Lord. Does He recognize you as one of His own. He says: "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and I give them eternal life." (John 10:27) Who are you following? Where do you stand with Christ?

Go to the cross for forgiveness, and keep going back. And then as a redeemed and regenerated sinner/saint: "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil." (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

A Word from Pastor:

Across the street from our Christian School is a 7-Eleven convenience store. Recently a clerk behind the counter remarked to one of our teachers how different our school's students were from other youth that come there. The differences included how they related to one another as well as to the clerk, their general attitude, politeness, cheerfulness, etc. They wore Our Savior not only on their uniforms but also on their demeanor, actions and interactions.

Witnessing for Christ is not just talking, it includes everything about how we come across to others. It is the fulfillment of one of God's Big Ten Commandments: "Do not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." God's reputation is at stake wherever we go bearing the name of Our Savior. We are being watched. Let them see Christ.

A Word from Pastor:

Tennessee State lawmakers have overwhelmingly passed labeling the month of June Nuclear Family Month, celebrating and promoting families consisting of a father, mother and children, biological, adopted or foster. They recognize that this is God's design for the family, and since He is the Creator of s*x and gender, He probably knows best how best to use these gifts. To celebrate and promote any other arrangement is to bring misery and malfunction, psychological, societal and eternal. As God the Creator said: "Male and female He created them. God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and subdue it." (Genesis 1:27-28) "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they shall be one flesh." (Genesis 2:24) And Jesus affirmed it: "At the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife . . . What God has joined together let no man separate." (Matthew 19:4-6) Pray that more states decide to stop honoring and promoting anti-God, anti-family, counterproductive and evil arrangements.

A Word from Pastor:

Today is Memorial Day, a national day to honor those who have given their life into death for their country. Some do it on the battlefield. Some do it on the college campus, like Charlie Kirk. He died for Christ and country, in that order. I just received his last book he authored: STOP in the Name of GOD: Honoring the Sabbath will Transform Your Life. As busy as he was, he set aside one day a week for worship and family. His worldview and political positions were based on the Word of God and devotion to Christ. And his last appeal was for his generation, and ours, to find a church where God's Word was proclaimed and Christ was honored.

The sweatshirt he wore when he was assassinated had the message "FREEDOM." True, eternal freedom is in Christ alone: "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." (2 Corinthians 3:17) That is found where God's Word centered on the cross of Christ is preached. Find a church where that happens and make it a regular habit to be there when it is, "not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:25)
