This week, kids learned the amazing truth that “God Values Us” through two parables found in Luke 15:1-10. Jesus responded to the Pharisees (religious leaders) who were upset because Jesus was welcoming sinners and eating with them. Jesus told them stories about people who searched for something lost until it was found and then celebrated its return. Kids discovered that God seeks after and invites everyone to know and love Him. Gather some favorite items with your kids and talk about why they are valuable. Talk about how God values us and loves us—not because of what we do but because of who He is.

This week we taught kids that God welcomes them into His family. Kids heard the parable of the wedding feast from Luke 14:15-24. Jesus told a story about a king who invited his friends, family, and strangers to his son’s wedding, but not many accepted the invitation. God invited everyone to be a part of His family through forgiveness and relationship with Jesus. Plan a video call with a family member who lives in another city, state, or even country! Share with your kids how God has given you an incredible family and invites all of us to be a part of His family.

Kids learned “God Gives Me a New Identity” this week through Luke 5:1-11. After fishing all night and catching nothing, Jesus told a man named Simon (later called Peter) to put out his nets once again. Even though he hadn’t caught anything, Peter obeyed. The net became so full of fish that it almost broke! Peter knew Jesus had power that only comes from God, so he left his boat and followed Jesus. Peter chose a new identity—follower of Jesus. Kids learned how God offers us that same new identity when we trust and follow Jesus. Invite your kids to make their own ID cards. Talk about how, when we follow Jesus, we change in a way that you cannot put on a card. We change because we follow Him and live in a way that points others to Him.

Kids learned this week that “God Gives Me a New Heart.” Through the prophet Jeremiah, God told His people if they obeyed Him, He would bless them. Even though His people did not obey, God had a plan to change people’s hearts. He would give power to follow Him. God gives us a new heart when we ask for His forgiveness and trust in Him. Sit in silence with your kids, hands over your hearts, as you listen to and feel them beat. Share that God does not give us new physical hearts, but He changes who we are on the inside—leading us to love and follow Him.

This week preschoolers learned that God knows everything that happens. They heard the story of Nehemiah rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall after learning the city was in danger. Even though the people were sad, Nehemiah told them that God knew what was happening, and He would be with them. We can trust that God knows everything about our lives and is here to help us too.

This week kids learned that “God Knows Every Situation.” A man named Nehemiah led God’s people to rebuild the walls of their city of Jerusalem. They faced a lot of opposition, but God showed them He knew their situation and would continue to lead and guide them. Kids learned when we are worried about our circumstances and situations, we can ask God for help and know He provides us with everything we need to make it through hard times. Use interlocking blocks to make a wall, like the one from the Bible story. For each “brick,” share something amazing about God that will encourage you when you face difficult situations.

This week preschoolers learned that God knows every hurt through the story of Job. Job was a good man who loved God very much, but a lot of bad things happened to him. He lost his animals, his home, and his children. Instead of being mad at God, Job trusted Him because he knew that God is good all the time. God knows everything about us, even the hurts and bad things that happen. Preschoolers learned that they may not always understand why bad things happen, but they can always trust that God is good.

This week the kids learned that “God Knows Every Hurt” through the story of Job. Job suffered a lot of hurt and loss. Even through the pain and struggles, Job trusted God. God reminded Job that He was all-powerful and always with him. God knows everything about us, even the hurts and struggles we experience. Kids learned that we don’t always understand why bad things happen, but we can trust that God is good. When your kids share struggles this week, teach them to S.E.A.P.—Stop Everything And Pray. Help them know that God knows their hurt and is always there for them.

This week preschoolers learned that God knows every detail about their lives by diving into
1 Samuel 16:1-13. Samuel followed God’s directions and went to the house of Jesse to anoint the next king. Samuel thought he knew who the next king should be just by looking at the sons, but God told Samuel that He knew their hearts, and that is what mattered. God chose David, a shepherd boy and the youngest son. Sit down as a family and talk about all of the things God sees when He looks at the heart. Ask your preschoolers to name people in their lives that show kindness and goodness in their actions.
