I love Sundays with our church. There is nothing superficial. It’s all impactful and meaningful. In the last year, I have seen so many lives transformed and people changed, to the glory of God! We do more than meet together. We worship together. We rejoice together. Sometimes we weep together. We protect each other. We help each other. We encourage one another. We have deep, meaningful conversations about things that matter. We pray together and for one another. I am thankful to be your pastor.

5th Sunday Singing yielded some great specials and congregation singing.

Rejoicing that the Lord added six new members this morning.

Sis. Atley came upon profession of faith and was baptized, and the Jolley family and Bro. Duke joined by letter.

We also had more first time visitors this morning; one as a result of some outreach done several months ago. Praying for more fruit!

We missed several regulars this morning who were either feeling unwell or traveling.

Tonight is 5th Sunday Singing.

Thank you to an amazing church family for the surprise birthday party. Thank you to our youth for serving the adults tonight! To everyone for the sweet cards. One of the cards read, “thank you for being a pastor who cares about his flock.” I can truly say back to you all, “thank you for being a flock that is easy to care about.” I am so blessed.

In Acts 5, when the council was trying to decide what to do with the apostles for continuing to preach in the name of Jesus, one Gamaliel stood up and offered, “for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.”

What he was saying was, “take a ‘wait and see’ approach.” There had been others before Jesus and the apostles who made some claims and gained some traction before fizzling out, so Gamaliel said, “just let it run its course.”

I had never thought of applying that text to an individual’s profession of faith before, but consider the possibility that there are some Gamaliel’s in the world today who are standing idly by watching you, church member, to see if there really is anything to your faith. Hopefully, the conclusion they come to is the same one they came to concerning Peter and John in Acts 4. “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John….they marveled; and took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”
