Denver Institute for Faith & Work Preparing people to serve God and others in their daily work so that cities are transformed

Denver Institute for Faith & Work is an educational nonprofit based in Denver, Colorado, offering theological education on issues of work, calling and culture. Our goal is to provide a deeper understanding of our work and professions in light of the Christian faith, and to use that knowledge to better serve our organizations, communities and professions.

đź’ˇMonthly Spiritual Discipline

This month, we’re focusing on being intentionally and missionally engaged with the people we work alongside who do not know Christ. We are called to be known as people who follow Christ, not only by what we say, but through our words, attitudes, actions, and values. Join us in prayerfully practicing intentional ways to represent Christ in our workplaces and relationships.

Hear our teammate Naomi share how she engages the practice of intentionality, and download the guide to reflect more deeply this month: https://ow.ly/kHl450Z7lLm

The call of the Christian is not to certainty, but to trust.

At Denver Institute, we believe a “who knows” kind of trust is worked out in the concrete places of our lives, namely in the work of meetings and emails, decisions and deadlines, products built, services rendered, people led, and budgets met. Faithful work in uncertain times is about offering our work to God with integrity, courage, and hope, trusting that he is at work in and through it.

So we turn toward him again, and again, in our work, in our leadership, and in our cities, and move forward with quiet confidence, trusting that the God who meets us in our faithfulness is able to do far more than we can ask or imagine.

Did you know we have new episodes streaming every other week on both of our podcasts, The Faith & Work Podcast and Teach Us to Pray?

The Faith & Work Podcast explores our everyday work in God’s world through conversations that tackle common workplace challenges, broaden your vision for how God is at work in our communities, and offer tools to deepen your experience of God on the job.

Teach Us to Pray explores both the complexity and simplicity of prayer through scripture meditations, guided prayer, and everyday applications that help you practice prayer in daily work and life.

Our 2026 Class of 5280 Fellows!

Over the last five months, these 22 fellows stepped away from the noise of daily demands to reflect on how God is at work in their vocations and how their work might more fully participate in God’s renewing mission in the world.

Through retreats, cohort conversations, readings, and practices, they explored what it means to pursue faithful public work for the common good.

We are so excited to see how they continue working with God, for the world, through their everyday work.

We’re grateful to share our 2025 Annual Report with you.

In moments marked by uncertainty, a phrase from Joel 2 stayed with our team this past year: “Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave a blessing behind him…”

What began as a light-hearted mantra for our team and our work became something deeper. It reminded us that our role is not ultimately about outcomes or impact, but about faithfulness.

Faithfulness lives not in clarity, but in uncertainty; not when outcomes are secured, but when they are still hidden. It is the steady turning of our attention, our work, and our hope toward the one Person we can trust: Jesus.

đź’ˇMonthly Spiritual Discipline

There is scriptural evidence that the people of God practiced fixed-hour prayer—routined pauses throughout the day to pray and be mindful of God’s presence. This could look like a short morning walk without your phone, a quiet commute to work, or a pause in your workday to step away from your screen and pray.

Hear our teammate Grace share how she engages the practice of fixed-hour prayer, and download the guide to reflect more deeply this month: https://ow.ly/Tl3U50Z2To5

Join us next Wednesday, May 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Denver Institute office for dinner and conversation with others in the tech and faith community. If these photos could talk, you would hear hundreds of people talking about how their faith shapes their work in rooms all across Denver over the last two weeks.

From conversations about hope and living faithfully amid uncertainty, to praying over business and leadership in our city, to founders gathering over breakfast, professional women growing in vocational discipleship, and artists and storytellers exploring how we actively shape culture, these gatherings reminded us how our work can bring hope and life to our city.

These are the kinds of conversations we’re committed to hosting all year long. Stay tuned for upcoming events and opportunities to join in!

Local to Denver? We have two events this week we’d love for you to join!

Faithful Uncertainty: A Conversation with James K.A. Smith
Thursday, May 8 at 7pm
We’re partnering with Denver Seminary and Platte Park Church to welcome philosopher and author James K.A. Smith for a conversation on his new book, Make Your Home in This Luminous Dark. The evening will include a live interview, audience Q&A, and discussion on navigating the complexities of our vocations, our relationships, and our faith, recognizing that we are often most found by God when we feel most lost.

Good Culture in an Empire: An Evening with Malcolm Foley & Sho Baraka
Friday, May 9 at 7pm
Then join us Friday at Embassy Christian Bible Church for a multimodal performance exploring current cultural tensions through storytelling, lecture, and music with Malcolm Foley and Sho Baraka. Sho Baraka is an artist, performer, and author of He Saw That It Was Good. Malcolm Foley (PhD, Baylor University) is a pastor, historian, and serves as special adviser to the president for campus engagement at Baylor University.
