Yesterday we talked about how unity through diversity requires discomfort. Today, as we reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King we remember that when he was alive, King was one of the most hated men in America for preaching that exact cause.
Our call as a church is to live out within our walls, and advocate outside of them, for a just society where all are treated as image bearers of God.
It’s a Jesus-centered calling empowered in us by the Holy Spirit. it will always involve discomfort. But it also, when lived out, offers the possibility of reconciliation in a world where that increasingly feels impossible.
Pray today for our church, and the church of America, to have the wisdom, courage, creativity, and hope needed to move toward this vision today.
