Today I'm opening up my Teaching Notes library at Simple Grace: 354 free Bible study notes covering 18 books of the Bible, plus topical messages for Christmas, Easter and more.

Subject: Grace is going further than ever

Friends,

Every time I sit down to write one of these updates, I am struck by the same thing: the message of grace keeps moving into places I could never reach on my own. God is not waiting on our strength. He is simply inviting us to join what He is already doing. Here is what that looks like right now.

NEPAL: Standing with our brothers after the flood

Since the flooding, the Evangelical Christian Bible College has been carrying relief to families who lost homes, crops, and livelihoods. Many more relief missions are being planned over the next few months. Each trip costs several thousand dollars for transportation and supplies. These are the same students and leaders we have taught and prayed with, and now they are being the hands of Jesus to their neighbors. We want to stand with them. When you give to Simple Grace, we can send support directly to this work.

PAKISTAN: A new language, more books, and a celebration

The Sindhi translation of Simple Grace is finished! For the first time, believers in the Sindh region will be able to read about the finished work of Christ in their heart language. We now need funds to print the Sindhi edition, along with 500 more copies in Urdu. The total need is about $1,000.

In November, we will hold a large graduation ceremony for every student we have trained this year. This matters more than it might seem. These men and women have given their time and hearts to learning the New Covenant, often at real cost. Honoring their dedication encourages them, strengthens the churches they serve, and tells the next class that this work is worth doing. We need funds to make this celebration happen.

INDIA: Classes and a Punjabi translation

Classes in India are continuing, and work is underway on a Punjabi translation of the book. When it is ready, we will need funds to print it as well.

HERE AT HOME

In March, I will be teaching at a revival meeting in Ness County, Kansas. Please pray for open hearts and a fresh revelation of grace there.

I am also about to release a plain-English modernization of The Marrow of Modern Divinity. This 1645 classic has been a quiet treasure for those who love the gospel of grace, and I am excited to put it in the hands of a new generation. More on that very soon.

We're going to prison.

Last Friday I walked into the prison in Raymondville not knowing what to expect. I walked out six hours later knowing God had opened a door I did not knock on.

The chaplain had been reading Simple Grace. He loved it. He wants it in the hands of the men there. Over the course of the day I sat with dozens of them, counseled them, prayed with them, and watched what happens when a man who has spent years measuring himself by his failures hears that Jesus already finished the work. Grace does something to a room like that. There is no performance left to protect. Men who have nothing to offer God are exactly the men who receive Him most gladly.

We are now setting up a full Simple Grace class inside the prison. The chaplain is expecting at least a couple hundred men to go through the entire course. That means books. That means Bibles. That means the ordinary expenses of showing up week after week for men the world has written off.

Meanwhile, the work overseas keeps growing.

Classes are continuing in India, Pakistan, and Nepal. What is happening in Pakistan is especially exciting: the new classes there are self contained, meaning the believers are carrying the teaching themselves without needing us in the room. Jerry is leading a new group through the Simple Grace class in Karachi and another in the Sindh area. The photos below are from one of those sessions.

And here at home, we started a new Bible study at SpaceX last week. Over 25 adults and around 20 kids came. It was amazing. Engineers, families, kids in the next room, all of us sitting under the same simple truth.

Here is where I need to be honest with you. None of this runs on nothing. Books, Bibles, translation, travel, and the steady cost of keeping classes going on three continents and inside a South Texas prison all add up. What we need most is not a one time gift. It is monthly support. Monthly support is what lets us say yes to a chaplain in Raymondville without wondering whether we can afford the books.

I want to say clearly that I am not asking out of obligation and you should not give out of guilt. That is not how grace works and it is not how giving works either. God loves a cheerful giver, not a pressured one. But if the Lord has put this on your heart, your partnership puts a book in a prisoner's hands and a Bible in a home in Karachi.
