The Bible is by far the best selling book of all time, but it is also the most misunderstood and misinterpreted. This is why Paul charged young Timothy with this:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved unto God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth” (II Tim. 2:15, NASB).

Biblical interpretation is not to be left to the ivory towers of the Church, but each believer should equip themselves with the tools necessary to “accurately [handle] the word of truth.”

Last Sunday we spoke on the principle of “observation” in biblical interpretation and this Sunday we will explore “interpretation.” The final Sunday of this series will employ “application.”

Happy Mother’s Day to life’s most wonderful people. Our mothers raise us, nurture us, guide us, and instill life’s most precious values in us. They are worth celebrating.

God’s promise to the children of Israel was not that once they reached the Promised Land that they would be in Paradise, but it was that “I have set the land before you” (Deut. 1:8).

The people of God then had to “go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to [their] fathers.” There is no guarantee that possessing the things of God comes without a struggle. The guarantee is that if you follow Him and His ways that you will have what He has promised you.

As God commanded Joshua at Jericho, if you position yourself directly behind the Presence of God and allow it to lead you then you can expect God to do wonders in your journey (Jsh. 3:3-5). Alignment matters when pursuing the promises of God.

The promise wasn’t that there wouldn’t be a struggle, but that there would be a victory!
