Jesus made religious people uncomfortable because He kept getting too close to the people they thought God should avoid. He took what was sacred and made it accessible to sinners. He looked past the outward mess and went straight for the heart. And while religious leaders were busy judging, separating, and protecting their image, Jesus was moving toward the people who were struggling.

That still confronts us today.

Are we representing the heart of God if we only love people once they clean themselves up? Or are we willing to be for the sinner the way Jesus is for us?

Prayer is not a last resort for when life gets out of control; it's how we stay connected to what God is already doing around us.

Start simple: “Lord, help me notice where You are moving today, and give me the courage to join You.”

Where do you need God’s guidance right now? Who has He placed in your life to pray for? What would change if prayer became your first response instead of your last resort?

God isn’t nearly as offended by messy people as religious people are. In the parable of the prodigal son, the father runs TOWARD the child who disgraced the family. That kind of compassion broke social rules, crossed lines, and shocked the room.

Why? Because God’s heart is not reluctant toward you. He is fully committed to saving, restoring, providing for, and filling His people with His Spirit.

The real issue isn’t just “bad behavior.” It’s the original sin of saying, “I’ll live life on my own terms, without God.” But even then, the Father is still watching the road.

Come home... He's more compassionate than you think.
