A blessed feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May we strive to be more like her - obedient, trusting and accepting of the will of God in our lives.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

On this Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we also mark the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. Please say a prayer for our priests and future priests today.

REVERENCE IS KEY!

Reverence helps us remember that we are standing in the presence of Almighty God.

For most of Catholic history, churches were places of silence, prayer, awe, and reverence. Catholics entered knowing they were coming before the King of Kings.

Today, many parishes feel more like gathering places than sacred spaces.

Community is important and fellowship is good, but we go to Mass to worship God.

When reverence disappears, belief often follows.

Lex orandi, lex credendi (The law of prayer is the law of belief).

Today, U.S. Catholic bishops are gathering in Orlando, Florida (during the spring meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) and will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is being done as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations.

The consecration will take place during a Mass celebrated by the bishops, and dioceses and parishes across the country have been invited to join in prayer. The bishops have also encouraged Catholics to participate through:

* Prayer and novenas to the Sacred Heart
* Eucharistic adoration
* Works of mercy
* Family and parish consecrations to the Sacred Heart

The consecration of our nation to the Sacred Heart is an act of entrusting the people of the United States to the protection, care and guidance of the Lord.

One nation under God.

Sacred heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi Sunday.

The true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, body, blood, soul and divinity, is God's most perfect gift to us on Earth. May we always be mindful of that when we receive the Eucharist.

May we always receive Him with gentle reverence. Utilize the sacrament of confession regularly to ensure that you are in a state of grace.

May we go forth after reception as individual tabernacles, spreading truth, joy, and love to all.

Saint Boniface
675-754
Feast Day: June 5
Patronage: Brewers, Fulda, Germany, World Youth Day
Saint Boniface was an English Benedictine monk known as the “Apostle of Germany” for evangelizing and reforming the Germanic church. He was a respected scholar, teacher, and priest, (then bishop) that was called to be a missionary. To convert the superstitious German pagans he cut down the giant oak tree dedicated to the god Thor, as a show of power of the true God, Christ. Boniface believed in Christian orthodoxy and fidelity to the Pope. He died, with 53 companions, a martyr.
