New Disciples of Cedar Rapids is a new congregation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Born out of a partnership between First Christian and Cedar Christian churches, we came to believe we are meant to be a new church, embracing a future together as one.
As New Disciples, we left behind traditional buildings as well as old habits and practices that no longer served us, in order to re-think church and become something new. We carry forward a rich spiritual heritage of inclusiveness, unity, mission, open dialogue, and welcome—messages we believe couldn’t be more urgent and timely in today’s fractured world. Worship Gathering - Join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m., for a casual, but “classic” worship gathering. Whether it’s a challenging sermon, breakfast potluck, or a creative worship experience, something interesting is always happening! Music - We love sharing our musical gifts and praise God in the process! Bring your instrument! For extra fun, join our choir or try your hand at chimes---no experience necessary. Fellowship - For New Disciples, Christianity is about being part of a community that cares. Each Sunday following our worship gathering, we catch up on the latest with each other, renewing old friendships and creating new ones. Adult Disciple Groups - Interested in going deeper? Join one of our small groups for Bible study, discussion, social justice or mission work, contemplation and even prayer. Spiritual Mentors - Our pastor or trained church members are always happy to meet you one-on-one to discuss further what it means to be a disciple of Christ. Nursery Childcare - is available during worship services. If you need childcare in order to attend other church gatherings, please let the staff know and we will help you. Young Disciples - Fun adventures, emerging worship, movie discussions, FOOD, and more! We are in the process of creating something new and invite YOU to be part of the process!
