JOURNAL PROMPT
God has given me these good and perfect gifts:

PRAYER TO GROW GENEROSITY
Dear Father,
Grow in me an abundance mindset and a satisfied heart. I know that I will face challenges in both while living in this broken world. But as someone who has every reason to overflow with thanksgiving, I praise you for your good gifts.

I praise you for being the “changeless Father of heavenly lights,” as opposed to being the impetuous god of shifting shadows. We cannot predict or control you but we can completely trust you to always be good and faithful.

I praise you for the gospel of your grace - the gift of Jesus, who lived and died in our place to make us yours. In him we have every spiritual blessing as a gift of your outrageous generosity.
I thank you because of the many specific gifts given to me and my family. You have given us______________________. Your generosity in big things and small knows no limits.

Thank you. Father, these are just a few of the many, many gifts that come down from you all the time.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Congrats, Pastor Leah!

Writing songs to help God's people memorize Scripture is a huge passion of mine. I've been writing for my child since my oldest entered Kindergarten and we discovered they have weekly Bible verses to memorize. I then started following him from grade to grade up through the 8th grade now. 33-34 songs per grade, 9 grades so far, averaging 100 minutes per song from start of writing, to recording, to video production, to posting the YouTube videos. That's 29,700 minutes... 495 hours of songwriting and production.

I've never thought about it in terms of volunteering for the school, but last night Isaac Newton Christian Academy, Cedar Rapids surprised me with a Meritorious Volunteer Service award at the annual meeting for all the songs I've written to help the students memorize their weekly verses throughout the years. I was shocked! And in tears. My husband was in on it! :)

So many of you have communicated over and over again how much these songs make memorization easier for your students, how you are learning them along with them, about playing them in the car ride on the way to school, and how the music makes the memorization last. You have told me stories of younger siblings already knowing the verses from hearing them played, or catching your child just randomly singing verses as they played. Or that you, for the first time as an adult, are also memorizing Scripture.

I love all these stories! They truly remind me of why I do what I do. To God be the glory!

I'm not done! I plan to keep writing songs and following the students all the way to 12th grade! :)

The lesson - I could have never imagined when I wrote those first Kindergarten ABC Bible verses for fun using just my cell phone and my apple headphones that it would blossom into a ministry of writing and recording verse songs for churches, camps and ministries across the globe. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
