”For lo the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold;

When with the ever-circling years, Comes round the age of gold.

When peace shall over all the earth, Its ancient splendors fling;

And the whole world give back the song, Which now the angels sing.”

Today at 4:00pm, we invite you to join us at our new home (St Andrew Lutheran, 4420 Center Point Rd NE) for our Christmas Eve service of nine lessons and carols.

We will read nine Biblical passages that walk us through the Biblical story of a coming savior. We will also sing nine carols reflecting on those passages, and we end the service singing by candlelight.

Please come and bring a friend to celebrate and remember the birth of Christ together with us.

December is a busy time at Trinity!

As we prepare our hearts to remember Christ’s coming during the Advent season, we are also preparing for our first major move as a congregation. Our church family has outgrown its current space, and we are grateful that God has provided us with a new home that will allow us to spread out and continue to grow.

With that in mind, here is some important information for you:

December 21st will be our final Sunday at CSPS.

Our new location will be at St. Andrew Lutheran Church (4420 Center Point Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids). Our first service at the new building will be on Christmas Eve, and our first Sunday there will be December 28th, with a new service time of 10:30 AM.

Though it is a large move for the church, our main focus is not changing. We still gather as one body to worship Jesus Christ and proclaim the good, true, and beautiful gospel to the glory of God and the comfort of our neighbors.

The fourth and final Sunday of Advent leads us to Christmas dwelling on God’s immense love seen in sending his Son to be born. A love that looked upon fallen humanity and promised a savior who would come and rescue us from our sins. A love that has promised to come again in glory. A love that calls us to turn and share that love with the weary world around us.

The third week of Advent is the week of joy, where we look to the joy of the shepherds upon hearing the good news of the Messiah. We light the third candle to remember that the One who brings us true and lasting joy has come, and has promised he will come again one day.

In the second week of advent, we reflect upon Christ as the final resolution of all conflict; looking also toward his permanent reign of peace that will one day come to our world.

A reflection from Pastor Isaac on Trinity’s fourth anniversary:

“Trinity did not drop out of the sky.

Though we celebrated becoming a free-standing church and four years of meeting this past week, the history of Trinity goes back much further.

Pastors, Christians, and other churches in this city have prayed for years for the gospel to be proclaimed.
Trinity is one answer to those prayers.

For thousands of years the church as a whole has longed to reach the far corners of this world. Trinity counts itself as one of those churches.

Through it all, from last week, to four years ago, to twenty years ago, to two thousand years ago, there has been one truth that we all hold onto: Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again to bring us salvation.

We are so thankful for our savior, for our God who has established us and maintained us over the years, and for the continued growth of the gospel to all corners of Cedar Rapids.”
