Pub Theology Swansboro

Pub Theology Swansboro The format is simple: beer, conversation, and God. Come bring your questions, your curiosity, and pull up a chair. We’re going old school. The C.S. "Are you tired?

Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein type of old school. You don’t need to be religious, know what theology is, be a philosopher, or even drink beer to come. We’re going to talk about life, God, and everything in between. All are welcome. Check out our upcoming events for more details. Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest." - Jesus (Matthew 11:28)

⚠️ Pub Theology Swansboro – Weather Update ⚠️

Out of an abundance of caution, we’re postponing tonight’s Pub Theology gathering due to forecast rain with the potential to change over to freezing rain, limited driving visibility after dark, and the risk of black ice.

📅 New date: Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026
🕡 Time: 6:30 p.m. (same start time)
📍 Location: 34 North (Same great spot, same good conversation.)

Your safety comes first, and we’ll look forward to gathering next week for beer, conversation, and God. Stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon. 🍻❄️

Pub Theology Swansboro Update 🍻

Friends—Pub Theology Swansboro will be taking the month of January off. We’ve heard from several of our regulars who are currently under the weather with the flu and other respiratory illnesses, and we want to give everyone time to rest and recover.

We’ll regroup on the first Wednesday in February, and we’re looking forward to picking the conversation right back up.

If you’re new or thinking about joining us, Pub Theology is simple: beer, conversation, and God. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and pull up a chair. Be ready to engage with people of varying religious traditions, philosophical perspectives, and life experiences.

Take care of yourselves, stay healthy, and we’ll see you in February.

Friends,

Pub Theology is tonight at 6:30 p.m.!

Come join us as we discuss unfreezing history, belief in the devil, and God as light.

And here is a question to think about...

In your mind, was there such a thing as “before God”?

Come explore this question and more tonight!

See you there!

Friends,

As a reminder and as previously discussed, we will not meet in the month of July due to planned vacations, operational commitments, etc.

We will meet again on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.

Until we meet again, I leave you with this...

Proverbs 30:5 says, "Every word of God is flawless." This is sometimes also translated as true or pure. Does this text support an inerrant view of Scripture? Or is it saying something else? What do you consider to be 'the word of God?'

Feel free to respond to these questions in the comments or message the page directly.

Until next time...

Grace and peace,
Sanders

Friends,

As a reminder and as previously discussed, we will not meet in the month of July due to planned vacations, operational commitments, etc.

We will meet again on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.

Until we meet again, I leave you with this...

Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, “If you do not know how to take care of yourself, and the violence in you, then you will not be able to take care of others. You must have love and patience before you can truly listen to your partner or child. If you are irritated you cannot listen. You have to know how to breath mindfully, embrace your irritation and transform it.”

How do you respond to irritation? What helps you respond graciously and patiently? How do you "take care of yourself"?

Feel free to respond to these questions in the comments or message the page directly.

Until next time...

Grace and peace,
Sanders

From a spiritual and moral perspective, is being highly competitive a positive thing?

We will be meeting indoors as rain is forecast this evening. So, don’t let the rain scare you away. Look for the tables with the discussion guides. See you tonight!
