An organ that hadn’t been played (or tuned) in years.

An Iwao that hadn’t played the organ in over 5 years.

Then Iwao sat down and played from memory.

No notes.

And blew us all away.

The GOAT.

Norwich - you were mystical and magical. To finally arrive to where our matron saint, Mother Julian, lived - to worship in her church, see her cell, imagine her there. Her presence was palpable as we connected with the present soul of St. Julian’s- Fr. Richard, Fr. Bruce, Josiah, Shirley, and Pidge, the cat. United in prayer, faith, breath, and love. Norwich you forever marked our hearts.

How blessed are we to have had the Rev. Nan Kennedy celebrating the Holy Eucharist these last two Sundays! A dear member of our St. Julian’s community, it’s a wonderful treat to see her at the altar again! Thank you for caring for us and shepherding us while Rev. Demery Bader-Saye was on the youth pilgrimage and Rev. Miles Brandon was on sabbatical.

Our youth pilgrimage to Norwich, England concluded yesterday- some pilgrims went on to other adventures but most arrived safely last evening. Tired, full of stories and moments, and ready to be home again with their families.

With deep gratitude, we thank all who made this journey happen- all who contributed to making this possible by their donation, their planning, by saying yes, their time, energy, and know how. We carried you with us on this wonderful journey and prayed for you daily.

We especially give thanks for our chaperones for caring for, keeping safe, encouraging, and guiding these dearly loved children and returning them safely.

Thank you parents for entrusting them to us - they are amazing and wonderful! We learned and grew so much from listening to their insights and reflections.

In the shared moments, in seeking together, and sharing of themselves our pilgrimage was dearworthy.
