The Story of CPFUMC begins in 1984 when several Cedar Park families attending the Leander United Methodist Church wanted to worship in Cedar Park. These founding families were strongly motivated to provide activities and spiritual development for their children. Church members were highly engaged in church activities such as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and participated in constructing the present Church sanctuary.

John Wesley taught 4 key points fundamental to the Methodist church:

1) A person is free not only to reject salvation but also to accept it by an act of free will.

2) All people who are obedient to the gospel according to the measure of knowledge given them will be saved.

3) The Holy Spirit assures a Christian of their salvation directly, through an inner "experience" (assurance of salvation).

4) Christians in this life are capable of Christian perfection and are commanded by God to pursue it.

The United Methodist Church has roots back to the 1730s when brothers John and Charles Welsey led a revival movement in England and were mocked as "Methodists" for their methodical approach to Bible study and holy living.
The United Methodist Church then formed on April 23, 1968 in a merger between the Methodist Church and Evangelical United Brethren Church.
