Where Did We Get That Name?

The church has been in existence since 1979. When it was built there was nothing but trees and fields all around. As Cedar Park began to boom in the 2000’s businesses started popping up all around. Eventually Walmart built close by and the city put a loop that connected Whitestone Blvd and Bell Blvd. They named named it Walton Way. Interestingly enough, Walton Way dead end’s into Whitestone Blvd right at the driveway for the church. The city placed a signal light at that intersection, so we are the only church in town with a major signal light into our driveway.

The end result of this light and the positioning of the businesses around us creates the need for people to make a u-turn. This makes drivers feel the need to use our parking lot to turn around. When I became the pastor I felt we could use this as a connection point with our community. We decided to call ourselves Turnaround Church as a play on the practice. Plus, we are a place where people can have their lives turned around. Whether it is from sin, addictions, habits, poor choices, or any number of other things they can find their turn around.

Once people find their turn around then we equip them to help others find the way to turn their lives around. This way we serve the community in multiple ways. The name creates an immediate connection with our purpose.
