Arriving from Rome this past Thursday, Deacon Lucas joined us at the altar this past Sunday at the 7:30 am Mass, assisting Fr. Vidal in the celebration of the Eucharist and offering the homily for the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. His reverent presence and preaching added a special joy to our parish celebration of this sacred feast.

In shared excitement and anticipation, it was meaningful to have Deacon Lucas with us, as he prepares for his ordination to the priesthood this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. We ask you for your continued prayerful support, most especially this Friday evening for a Holy Hour Vigil from 7 - 8 p.m. in the church.

Following his ordination, [Father] Lucas will return to Notre Dame on Sunday, June 14, to celebrate his First Mass of Thanksgiving at 11:30 a.m. A reception will be offered downstairs in our Parish Hall—all are welcome!

This past Saturday, Fr. Vidal celebrated a birthday! Through various acknowledgments and celebrations over the weekend, many were able to pause and thank God for him and for the gift of his presence among us.

We are grateful for our pastor’s kindness, humble and faith-filled leadership, and the way he makes time for people—whether in moments of joy, struggle, or everyday parish life.

We are blessed to have him as our pastor and ask the Lord to continue to watch over him, fill him with peace and good health, and bless him abundantly in the year ahead.

To Jesus through Mary…

Anne Galea from Australia watched helplessly as her 17-year-old son, Rob, spiraled completely out of control. Rebellion. Bad influences. Isolation. He locked himself in his room, sobbing in despair and rejecting every offer of help. Her heart broke daily.

In her deepest desperation, Anne even received a vision of Rob as a priest — guitar in hand, leading young people to Christ. At the time it seemed impossible. Today it’s reality.

In his prayer intention for June, the month dedicated the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Pope Leo XIV encourages us, “Let us pray together that each one of us might find consolation in a personal relationship with Jesus, and from His Heart, learn to have compassion on the world.” As we begin this Novena to the Sacred Heart, we join the Holy Father in that prayer.
