Update on Mt. Lebanon Licensing

We are receiving many questions about the status of Mt. Lebanon’s youth camp license.

While the logistics for receiving a license is a concern for almost all camps in Texas, the good news is that Mt. Lebanon expects to receive ours on or around May 18, in time for a full summer of camps.

In addition to the high standards Mt. Lebanon has pursued that have kept generations of campers safe and secure, we have expended tremendous resources and attention in equipping, training, and preparing for a fantastic, and safe, summer of camps. Some of the extra measures this year include:

· A more robust Emergency Action Plan that will be taught and made available to campers, counselors and parents.

· Emergency P.A. speakers across camp that can be used in the event of an emergency. We also added battery backup that was not a requirement in the new rules. These speakers are a layer above our phone notification systems that we’ve used in the past. Our location in the Metroplex and city limits makes ample cell service abundantly available and is typically the fastest, clearest way to communicate with adult leaders across our campus.

· Two way radios – in the event of cellular outage, we can still communicate with key leaders and utilize our emergency P.A. remotely.

· Egress lighting – the exit path to our gate is now illuminated at night, again with battery backup that was not specified, but makes our system even better than required.

While camps have long been recognized by parents as safe harbors for children and teens, our team at Mt. Lebanon is more focused than ever to ensure the safety of those in our care.

Let’s have a great summer of camp!

Please pray for hundreds of camps still awaiting a license to operate from the state (including us). Mt. Lebanon is more prepared and equipped than ever before for a safe summer of faith and fun...with record numbers of campers ready to go!

With camp season fast approaching, hundreds of Texas youth camp operators are still waiting to hear if their license will be approved. Following the loss of life at Camp Mystic during the 2025 flood, the state passed sweeping new safety rules for camps.

An honor to serve these special women for the last several days 🙏🏻

Organizers say prayer led them not to cancel, and the unexpected time together meant extra time to heal.
