OTD in 1873, 32-year-old Lottie Moon left the United States for China, just weeks after being appointed as a missionary by . After more than a month at sea, she arrived in China and began a missionary ministry that would last nearly 40 years.

Moon became one of the most influential missionaries in Southern Baptist history, advocating not only for reaching China with the gospel, but also for more missionaries and greater support from Baptists back home.

“If I had a thousand lives to give, I would give them all for China.”

During the Evening Worship special called business meeting to approve the Nominating Committee report for 2026-2027.

September 13 -Mission Groups Return: RA’s, GA’s, etc. 5:00-5:45 it’s the 1st rehearsal for the Children’s Christmas Choir. This year the children in K-6th grade will present EMMANUEL, GOD WITH US! Light meal/snack provided. The Preschool choir (ages 3-5 years) will convene at a later date. Parents, while the children are practicing you are invited to Women on Mission at 5:00 for a time of fellowship, information and inspiration.

Ladies Bible Study will NOT meet on Sunday 9/6 or Tuesday 9/8. The Study will resume on 9/13 and 9/15, (Great time to catch up if you wanting to participate).

Continue Prayers for …Grady Smith (great nephew of Bonnie/John Johnston), Randi Hall (community member battling cancer), those in our church who are homebound, recovering from surgeries etc.

Please be in Prayer for where you are being led to SERVE. Each have been given talents and upon conversation - at least one spiritual gift. How are you using your gifts and talents to serve in God’s Kingdom. An opportunity awaits in being a greeter one Sunday a month. Maybe it’s time to start helping in one of the Children’s Mission Groups or helping out in JAM. You Pray and God will show you the Way! It takes a village!

The Golden Offering for TN Missions is in September!

Operation Christmas Child Packing Party Kick-off is Sept 13th. Check out the Christmas Tree for gift tags listing items that need to be purchased for the 120 boxes we plan to fill. We are packing for boys/girls in the 10-14 year old age group -the least age group receiving gifts. Gifts are typically bundled in sets of 6 or 12 making bulk purchases easier and cheaper. There’s even a suggested local and online list of places specializing in Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts. Pick a tag(s), sign the logbook, purchase item(s), return by Nov. 1st and be ready for a Packing Party on Nov. 8th at 6:00 p.m. Yes, you are more than welcome to pack your own box(es) or pack online box(es) using the provided QR code.

We will not pack backpacks for children in Appalachia this year in order to concentrate on local children through the Christmas Angel Tree.

Exciting news about a packing party for Operation Christmas Child is coming soon. We are working on a packing party for the entire church body. You will be able to take a “gift tag”, similar to Angel Tree and purchase bulk items to be placed in the boxes during the Packing Party and Felllowship in early November. If you want to continue packing your own shoeboxes as a family that is still a option. If you just want to pack online that is also an option and I’ll have a QR code for you to scan so that the church gets the count.
