*GREETING & ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Spirit of Christ makes us come alive. What does that mean?
(A moment of silence)
INVOCATION:
O God, we your people have gathered to worship you and celebrate our liberation from sin and death. We acknowledge you as the source of our being, though we do not comprehend the depths of your mercy and love for us. We pray that your Spirit will lead us in worship as you have led your people throughout all time. Amen.
*HYMN We’ve a Story to Tell to the Nations #569 UMH
PSALTER READING: Psalm 33 #766 UMH
CHORAL RESPONSE
PRESENTATION OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Stewardship Challenge: Our faith begins and ends, not by our obedience to rules; not by our achievements, measured by ourselves or others; not by our finding God through our efforts; not by how much or how little we put in the offering plate; but, rather, by God’s unconditional acceptance of us. Our response, during the offering, and throughout our life, is thankful gratitude. I invite us to offer our grateful thanks to God now.
OFFERTORY
*DOXOLOGY
*PRAYER OF DEDICATION
Father we know, the willingness to give is a sign of life. The fruit tree gives of its fruit, and we know it is alive. When it no longer gives, we know real life has gone out of it. To give is to live. Amen.
PRAISES AND PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen
*HYMN We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise #2031 FWS
SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 9: 9-13
MESSAGE Rev. Cynthia L. Hall
*HYMN OF BENEDICTION: The Summons #2130 FWS
BENEDICTION: Go into the world and do what the Lord requires; living with kindness and justice, walking your path humbly, with God. Then you will find yourselves blessed.
