AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from the Bible verse 2 Timothy 2:15: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Throughout the program, children are rewarded for memorizing Bible verses and completing character building activities. Younger children learn through games, crafts and puppets
-- wonderful learning tools for this age. As they grow, children are introduced to small group interaction, community outreach, apologetics and life application of the gospel. AWANA Clubs meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30pm until 7:30pm. Sessions are run by volunteer individuals with a passion for sharing their faith with children. The AWANA Club is a ministry of the church which sponsors it and follows the Awana approved curriculum. Everyone is invited and the cost is paid for by the members of Woodcrest Free Will Baptist Church. All Uniforms and handbooks are provided. (The younger children will wear vests on which they display their awards that they have earned.) AWANA offers fun, friendship and Christian teaching that supports the teaching children are receiving at home and at church. Living their faith can be difficult for children, especially as they grow. AWANA provides a comfortable place to learn and grown along with peers who share their faith. AWANA also reaches out to unchurched youth, providing them with an enjoyable and comfortable introduction to Jesus. AWANA is an excellent choice for parents who would like their children to learn Christian values while participating in a club. THE CLUBS:
Cubbies:
Lots of fun and an introduction to God's word for preschoolers ages 3 through 5, Cubbies encourages these little ones to begin to make scripture a part of their lives through parent-child activities. Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies club meeting. Whether it's the fun puppets, the exciting games or all their Cubbies friends, they simply love it. At Story Time each week, preschoolers learn about God – the greatness of His love and His Word – and about His Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior. Non-competitive games build excitement and reinforce Story Time lesson themes. Cubbies helps you lead your child to God early so your child will respect and trust Him for life. Sparks:
Friendship building and the gospel message for Kindergarten - 2nd graders, Sparks teaches children about Jesus through games and introduces small peer-group interaction. To many children, Sparks is the highlight of the week! They love their red vests, the exciting games and spending time with leaders and friends. Sparks is divided into three years, each with a unique rank: HangGlider®, WingRunner® and SkyStormer™. Each year, Sparks clubbers:
• explore the biographies of people of the Bible from a new portion of Scripture
• memorize Bible verses
• complete handbook activities
The handbooks, combined with Large Group Time lessons from the WHO Do I Need to Know From the Bible series, take your child on a journey through the entire Bible! T&T (Truth & Training):
Evangelism and discipleship for 3rd-6th graders, T&T leads children into a deeper relationship with God and teaches them to reach out to others through mission projects. Handbooks and large-group lessons deepen a child's knowledge about God and His Word and teach how to put that knowledge into action in everyday life. T&T is different from other Awana programs. It is comprised of two clubs with distinct curriculum, uniforms and awards:
•T&T Ultimate Adventure™ for third and fourth grades
•T&T Ultimate Challenge™ for fifth grade
The two clubs are designed to help kids stay plugged into T&T as they move into the pr***en years and continue growing in their relationship with Christ. For more information on AWANA Clubs, visit www.awana.org/welcometoawana
