End of Summer Splash 💦

A huge thank you to James and Angela Owen for the hospitality and allowing our youth group to end the summer with a splash! Also, thank you to Murray Schoen for manning the grill and cooking some hot dogs 🫡

I thank God for a church family that loves and invests in the next generation! Pray for these students as they prepare to go back to the classroom 🙏🏻

Water fun before the lesson 💧

Tonight we talked about pride, as we focused on the verse James 4:6. It says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Most people think pride is just bragging or being arrogant, but pride goes much deeper. Pride is putting ourselves in God’s place. We think we don’t need help and that we can handle things on our own.

Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” So pride says, I don’t need advice, correction, or God. A prideful heart can keep us from growing spiritually because we are not depending on Him.

But as we read in James, humility opens the door to grace! When we choose humility we’re telling God we need and depend on Him. It says that we DON’T have it all figured out. Humilty is asking Him to forgive us AND to teach us!

To close I asked simple, yet a deep set of questions we must ask ourselves… INCLUDING YOU READING THIS!!!

Where does pride show up in your life? And…are you depending on God the way that you should?
