For our "Developing a Biblical Worldview" series, this Sunday morning we considered the issue of our government. How should the Church think about the government? For that matter, how should the church respond to the government, particularly when they make decision and/or pass laws that we do not agree with? What should our response be to our government and governing officials?

Paul makes clear in the book of Romans, chapter 13 that our default response to the government ought to be submission. In that respect it is not our "rights" as Americans that should govern our actions and attitudes towards the government but rather our acknowledgement of God's purposes for the government.

This is not a political message. This is not a partisan message. This is a message for those believers who are seeking to live in accord with at Biblical worldview and want to know what our response should be towards our government.

Listen in and be encouraged!

Continuing in our series on "Developing a Biblical Worldview", this past Sunday we considered the topic of the Church.

What do you think about when you hear the word "church"? For that matter, what do you think about when you hear the term "good church"? What makes a good church? The best programs, the best kind of music, the right kinds of children/youth programs? So many in our day think about the church in terms of how it will benefit them. They think of church and church membership in the same way that they think of membership at their local big box store. I will look for a place where I can feel 100% satisfied with everything and if I and my family are not 100% satisfied, then we'll go somewhere else.

However the Bible does not present church membership in that way. The goal of church membership is not the satisfaction of the individual, but rather the glory of God. And the word of God, especially Ephesians 4:1-16, is clear that it is the unity of the church, the pursuit of unity of each member in the church, their loving service of one another that leads to the glory of God.

In other words, a biblical worldview on the church requires that we think of the church in this way. The church is a place where the people of God gather to give so that they might grow up into Christ for the glory of God.

Listen in to the exposition of the Word and consider what it means to have a biblical worldview on the church!

We are continuing our "Developing a Biblical Worldview" series during the month of May.

We considered the matter of parenting on May 10th. Whose responsibility is it to raise children? Some suggest that it is the "experts" who are supposed to effectively raise your children. School teachers, Librarians and Doctors. Other suggest that children should raise themselves. They should determine such fundamental issue as their gender identity and sexuality. A question, which 50 years ago would have been unthinkable. Others in religious circles will look to the church to instill values and morals, moving from church to church until they find just the right Sunday school or youth program. Well, whose job is it? From a Biblical worldview perspective, the job of raising children has always fallen to parents. Paul gets to the heart of this in Ephesians 6:1-4. In the eyes of God it is their responsibility, regardless of what the world suggests.

Last week, we considered the matter of the gospel. How do you think about the gospel? Is it just another religious message? Is it something that the church has the option to share only when it is comfortable or acceptable to those who hear? How should the church, the people of God, think about the gospel of Jesus Christ? For that matter, how should they think of their relationship to the gospel? In 2 Cor 5:18-21, Paul summarizes the believer's relationship to and responsibility for the gospel in one word, ambassador. Believers are to think of themselves as ambassadors for Christ. Ambassadors represent someone else and generally bear the message of another among those whom they reside. Believers are to think of themselves as ambassadors and so should make every effort to represent Christ well, by proclaiming His message of reconciliation.

What is your worldview? Whether you have ever considered it or not, the answer to that question shapes the way you see and interact with the world around you.

A Biblical worldview is primarily shaped by the One to whom the Bible points, to Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah. Those who have a Biblical worldview look first to Him and at the world through Him.

This is the essence of our series as we take a brief pause through the book of Exodus to consider what it means to have a Biblical worldview. This first message speaks to the nature of a Biblical worldview in general and how significant it is for the believer. Subsequent messages throughout the month of May will address additional issues that are central to a Biblical worldview for the believer.

If you've never considered the issue of worldview, listen in and be encouraged!

Israel was saved from slavery so that they might serve the LORD. As we enter into Exodus 19-20, the desire of the LORD for them to be set apart for His purposes becomes clear. By virtue of His redemption of them from Egypt, they now belong to Him and therefore ought to be ready and willing to do His will.

The Church has likewise been saved to serve. We have not been saved so that God would make much of us. We have not been saved to sit and enjoy His many blessings. We have not been saved to look down upon the rest of the world as if we've done anything special. We have been saved to serve His purposes. By virtue of our redemption in Christ, we belong to Him and therefore ought to be ready and willing to do His will.

The question is Christian, are you?

The Lord is a provider for His people. That is the lesson that Israel is learning as we conclude this section in Exodus 15-18. They need to learn to trust the LORD. He had promised to bring them out of Egypt and did so by His power. He delivered them at the Sea from Pharoah's army. He has likewise promised to bring them into a land that He is gifting to them. They need to learn to trust His wisdom in leading them through the wilderness as well as in His ability to provide for them as they encounter trouble. They do face a number of troublesome trials, from their physical needs, to persecution and even the need for wisdom for their leaders. In all of these things, the LORD shows Himself to be faithful.

Likewise the Lord is our provider. He has, according to His promise, brought us out of slavery to sin and death. It is our remembrance of His faithfulness to meet our greatest need that should give us confidence as we face any need as we go through life.

The LORD is a provider for His people. And we must trust Him to do so. Listen in and be encouraged!

The Lord Provides Pt 2 - (Exodus 15-18)

04/13/2026

The LORD, our God, revealed Himself to Abraham as "the God who sees" in the book of Genesis. He is the God who sees us in our distress, in our times of trouble and He provides for us according to His will and out of His goodness.

In the book of Exodus, though the LORD, had not revealed Himself as "the God who sees", they certainly have experienced His goodness, benevolence and salvation in a number of ways. In their day, the LORD demonstrated His power, authority over all people and nations and His grace to them in redeeming them from Egyptian slavery. He promised that He would do it ahead of time and He delivered in spectacular fashion. Of all people, they should have known that He would provide for them.

But as they set off in the wilderness, on the way to the land that He had also promised to give them, they faltered and stumbled in unbelief. They faltered and stumbled in unbelief because they valued the satisfaction of their bellies over their relationship with the LORD, their Savior.

The story of Israel is a cautionary tale for us. The writer of Hebrews points to their unbelief in the wilderness in chapter 3 of the book and cautions believers today to "take care, lest there be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God." "Take care", beware, guard your heart against the worship of things, including your appetites. Value and treasure the LORD over all other things.

Pray for us as we continue in this study, that the LORD would keep us to this end for His glory!
