THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL FLOURISH
The Word of God promises that the righteous shall flourish (Ps. 92:12-13). The righteous shall not flourish as the flesh flourishes. The flesh only flourishes for a day. It grows and blossoms in the morning and is cut down in the evening (Ps. 90:6). The righteous shall flourish eternally. The psalmist said “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing” (Ps 92:14). The righteous shall not flourish outwardly. The righteous shall flourish inwardly as “the inward man is renewed day by day” (II Cor. 4:16). The righteous flourish when Christ comes to them in power (Ps. 72:7). The righteous shall flourish as they grow in grace. The righteous flourishes over the long haul by holding his way (Job 17:9) and remaining in the presence of Christ our Savior.

Believer, never forget that the fact that your sin is forgiven in the blood of Christ the Savior is no excuse for sin. The fact that we cannot change our nature of sin is no excuse for outward sin. Strive always to live a holy, honest, and upright life before men because you also have a new nature that is holy, loves the Lord, and desires to live in His ways and to honor Him who gave Himself to save your sorry soul. (Romans 6:12-13)

The Character of a Witness
To follow godliness without sound doctrine will lead to wildfire and zeal without direction. But to follow doctrine without GRACE and GODLINESS will lead to dead orthodoxy. In trying to avoid one ditch, let us not forget that there is a ditch on the other side of the road; and sometimes the champions of “the cause of God and truth” fall into errors of SPIRIT and ATTITUDE!
Let us contend for truth without being contentious. A man can be orthodox without being obnoxious! Let us lift up “the way” while we encourage the wayfarers. Let us preach with patience, witness in love, and “not strive, but be gentle unto all men” (2 Tim. 2:24).
I can tell a man what the gospel has done FOR me while I show him what the gospel has done IN me. This is called, “Adorning the doctrine of God, our Saviour.”

The Gospel is Enough
The purpose of the Bible, in its entirety, is to point helpless sinners to the crucified, risen, exalted Christ, and demand that they bow to him in humble, submissive faith. Everything in Holy Scripture is written that men may know Christ, trust Christ, and obey Christ. If I should open the Word of God and fail to preach Christ and him crucified, my preaching would be vain. It would be just so much meaningless noise about nothing. And it would be of no profit to those who heard it.
It is not our purpose to indoctrinate men and make them good Calvinists. It is not our purpose to regulate the lives of men by fear and intimidation and make them good moralists. Our purpose is to get men to see, trust, submit to, and love the Lord Jesus Christ. If men ever see Christ, they will get their doctrine straight. If men ever fall in love with Christ, they will live lives of godliness.

They are the happiest Christians, who have the lowest thoughts of themselves; and in whose eyes, Jesus is most glorious and precious!

SO GREAT SALVATION
Suppose you were on the verge of death because of a bad heart and at the last minute you received a heart transplant from a dying friend. How would you treat your new heart? You would do everything you could to take care of it. You would eat right, get the proper amount of exercise, and follow the doctor’s orders to a T. You wouldn’t think of neglecting the gift of a new heart from a dying friend.
It is so much worse to neglect “so great salvation” (Heb. 2:3) bought through the death of the Friend of sinners. We neglect the gospel that declares so great a salvation when we neglect attending the public worship service, when we don’t listen to the gospel to hear God’s message for me, and when we don’t hear the gospel as a sinner who is in need. God deliver us from such an attitude because “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?”

“TO SEEK AND TO SAVE” – Luke 19:10
As the Lord says in this verse, He does both the seeking and the saving. If the great Shepherd doesn’t seek his sheep, they will never be found. And if after finding His sheep, He doesn’t save them, they will never be saved. Thank God that Jesus Christ does both the seeking and the saving. And He does both successfully. All those He seeks, He finds. And all those He finds, He saves. And everyone He seeks and saves, He will bring to glory to present them faultless before the throne of God. The longer I live, the more convinced I am that “Salvation is of the Lord.” And I am so thankful that it is.

SIMPLY PREACH HIM
The message of the Gospel is a very narrow message that encompasses the breadth or the span of God himself. It is narrow in the sense that Christ is its only object. There is nothing that I can preach from the Scriptures that will not find its beginning and end all redounding to the glory and honour of Christ. Any message that focuses on anything but Him misses the Gospel.
