This modern folk hymn focuses on Ecclesiastes 10:8-10 (part of today's daily bible reading).

These scriptures focus heavily on wisdom, folly, political leadeship and the sharp consequences of lazy or foolish behavior.

Is it wisdom to believe gossip and rumors? Is it folly to share falsehoods? Is it lazy and foolish to believe everything spoonfed without verifying?

Even Peter and John ran to the tomb to verify that Christ was no longer there. Why didn't they accept the information given to them by Mary Magdalene and the other women?

Should we as Christians accept everything we are told without reading and seeking wisdom ourselves through a relationship with Christ and reading the scriptures ourselves?
