Praying for the elections underway in this country... and grateful to know that God is the one who removes kings and sets up kings (or presidents)!

BLESSING #30 – Disciples of Jesus are complete in Christ

When something is complete, it lacks nothing. Nothing more can be added to make it more complete.

Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

2 Timothy 3:16–17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

James 1:4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Through Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross, we ARE complete in Jesus Christ. We have been fully redeemed. We lack nothing. There is nothing more we can do to make us more redeemed. There is also an aspect of ongoing completion in our Christian lives. Jesus Christ has provided complete redemption and He is also in the process of completing our salvation over the course of our lives. Today let’s rest in and be blessed by the reality that we are complete in Jesus Christ!

BLESSING #29 - Followers of Jesus anticipate eternal life

Few things are certain in life. Death is one of those certainties. Every single human being conceived – no matter how rich or powerful – throughout all of world history has died or will die (until Jesus returns to earth).

John 10:27–28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will sn**ch them out of my hand.

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Life, as we know it, is confined by time. Jesus’s disciples are promised eternal life. This means that death – although certain – is simply a transition into the timeless hereafter. For believers, we can be assured of eternal life with our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, in the new heavens and the new earth. For those who rejected the gift of salvation, there will perpetual suffering in a lake of fire. While we deserve the lake of fire, Jesus has generously invited us to share eternal life with Him in the glories of heaven.

BLESSING #28 - Disciples of Jesus are heirs with Him

When we are adopted into God’s family, we are not only brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, God makes us fellow heirs of God’s priceless inheritance.

Romans 8:16–17 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Ephesians 1:11 In him [Jesus] we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

An inheritance comes to an heir not because they deserve it but because of who they are. God’s inheritance will be shared with us, not because of what we have done or that we deserve it, but because we belong to Him. It is made available to us only because of His incredible love and He wants to share His limitless resources with His Son, Jesus, and each one of us!

BLESSING #27 - A new creation

When Adam was created in the image of God, He called it very good. He was perfect. Sin marred that perfect creation with the stain of sin.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Galatians 6:15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.

Through Jesus Christ’s redemptive work on the cross, that stain of sin is removed. While still in an imperfect state of humanity, God remakes us into a new creation. This is the first step in complete perfection that comes when we are given resurrected bodies in eternity. It is such a blessing to be able to be God’s new creation – His handiwork – in this life… representing God to others as we live for our Redeemer each day.

BLESSING #26 – A chosen generation and royalty

A number of years ago we accompanied the school children on a field trip to Colonial Williamsburg. Our scheduled tour of the Governor’s Palace was cancelled in order to accommodate a tea for the Queen of England that very day. Since we weren’t royalty, we were excluded.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

In God’s kingdom, everyone is royalty. There are no class distinctions. Our background, our ethnicity, our income level, and our social status is irrelevant in God’s kingdom. Disciples of Jesus are all equally a select nation or race and a royal priesthood. When we surrender our lives to the King of Kings, we don’t become prisoners of war, instead we become a part of His royal family. Take some time to ponder this priceless blessing throughout today!

BLESSING #25 - We are justified and sanctified

Justification and sanctification are two big theological words we don’t typically use in every day conversation.

1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

When we are justified, we are no longer estranged from God. Being justified means that our relationship with God has been redeemed… we are part of God’s family. Sanctification is an ongoing process of maturity as the Holy Spirit continues to refine our lives to better honor Him. This lifelong process is necessary given our humanity. We are redeemed sinners… we are forgiven sinners… In this life we remain imperfect and in need of being sanctified. We are so blessed to be justified and sanctified.
