A Prayer For Church Musicians and Artists,

O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven: Be ever present with your servants who seek through art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on earth; and grant to them even now glimpses of your beauty, and make them worthy at length to behold it unveiled for evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May you never become cynical
May you never become jaded
May you never lose heart
May you never let the bastards get you down
May you never lose faith

May you see light and good in everyone
May you remain open to wonder and mystery
May you stand firm in the assault of the powers (shielded with the armor of God and a good sense of humor)
May you stay rooted in hope

AMEN.

Go forth now in the name of Christ:
Go to the city and the country;
Go to distant lands and nearby places;
Go where his name is well known and
where it has never been heard.

Go to the strong and the weak;
remember the weak.
Go to the rich and the poor;
remember the poor.
Go to those who welcome you and those who reject you;
pray for your enemies.

Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel.

From Forward Day by Day

Lord, teach us to see your face and to find its imprint in all acts of mercy and compassion, and in all for whom you died; by your Holy Spirit, change us, and conform us to your own image, that through your lives, your light may shine in this dark world, for the glory of your name. AMEN

From the Sarum Primer

God be in my head,
and in my understanding;
God be in my eyes,
and in my looking;
God be in my mouth,
and in my speaking;
God be in my heart,
and in my thinking;
God be at my end,
and at my departing.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
