The Episcopal Diocese of Maine honors Juneteenth today. Diocesan offices are closed in observance. Juneteenth commemorates the delayed arrival of freedom—on June 19, 1865—when the last enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their emancipation, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day to remember, reflect, and recommit to the work of racial justice and beloved community.

15 years ago this month, our Deacon Ann McAlhany & Priest Associate Jenny Reece were ordained together to the Diaconate in the Episcopal Diocese of Maine. Alleluia, Christ is Risen! ✨🕊️

Thank you to everyone who made this Holy Week possible. It truly takes a village to make this journey together, and I am endlessly grateful for all of your support in my first year with you. From saying "yes" to reading, to ensuring folks had rides to church on this rainy Easter morning, to the beautiful music, printed bulletins, setting up the altar, and making food to share—thank you!

I also want to thank our wonderful neighbors for collaborating with us, including Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine, St Francis by the Sea Episcopal CH, and St. Brendan the Navigator Episcopal Church, Deer Isle, Maine.

And a special shoutout to Auxford - The Market, The Kitchen - Castine, ME & Ebee's Sweets for keeping me fed and caffeinated this week! ☕🥐
