In our 39th episode of “Men Who Understood the Times,” we discuss: Can the Supreme Court legislate (im)morality? 1. Roe v Wade/Dobbs – abortion; 2. Obergefell v Hodges – gay “marriage”; 3. Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission – refusal of services for LGBTQ+; 4. Chiles v. Salazar – therapists performing “conversion therapy”.

We examine four major Supreme Court cases to discuss what effects these decisions have had on both Christians and unbelievers. How has legalizing abortion normalized an act that Christians consider a sin? How did legalizing gay “marriage” redefine a divinely ordained institution? How did the court uphold the concept that the government cannot force a citizen to say, write, or create something that violates their conscience? How did the court protect a therapist’s right to speak according to their conscience as a vital safeguard against government tyranny?

Last week, we collected non-perishable food from neighborhoods around Casper College for their student food pantry.

Our neighbors were extremely generous. Devin from Casper College believes this is a record for the most food donated at one time.

✨ We are not saved because people are perfect.

Paul called himself the worst of sinners. Moses had failures. Matthew had a past. Pastors are imperfect. Church members are imperfect.

Yet God, in His mercy, chooses to work through broken people to share the greatest treasure of all: salvation through Jesus Christ. 🩵

That’s the beauty of God’s grace—not that He waits for perfect people, but that He uses forgiven people.

🙏 Need a place to hear God’s promises, grow in faith, and be encouraged by His Word? We’d love to welcome you this Sunday.

Prayer of the Church
Third Sunday after Pentecost

Almighty God, You treasure Your people for Christ’s sake and give us Your commandments to guide our ways. Grant that we, redeemed by His blood, may do all He has spoken. Make us Your faithful stewards.

Lord of the Church, we pray for our Christian siblings in Indonesia. Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, with a total of more than 220 million Muslims, or about 13 percent of the world’s Muslim population. While most Indonesian Muslims practice an animistic and superstitious version of Islam known as “folk” Islam, proponents of Islamic extremism have engaged in violence against Christians. The wickedness of these attacks has led many Muslims to question Islam and to be more open to the gospel. We pray for the Indonesian Christians who are experiencing the persecution Jesus warned his disciples about. Look with compassion on all who suffer for the sake of Jesus. Deliver them from their enemies. Give them the words to confess as bold evangelists are taking advantage of this opportunity to share the gospel and lead many Muslims to faith in Christ. Bring your righteous judgment upon all those who oppose Christ and his Kingdom.

Lord of the Church, we offer you hearts full of gratitude and joy for establishing your Church by your life, death, and resurrection, and for empowering your people to carry on your kingdom work as you rule over all things in heaven. We ask you to bless the decisions of the district conventions this month. Give a double portion of your Spirit to those who were called to positions of service in the district. Keep them faithful to your Word and bless their spiritual oversight of your kingdom work. Amen.

“Freely you have received, freely give,” were among the words that Jesus spoke to his 12 disciples as he sent them out to minister to the deepest needs of people. God is lavish in his giving of good things to his people. He intends that we be wise managers of these gifts, using them to provide blessings and benefits to many people. Christian stewards are to be like conduits of God’s blessings, gratefully receiving them and allowing them to flow through our words and actions to family members, friends, and others whose lives we touch. The disciples were given the authority to drive out evil spirits and heal every disease and sickness, in addition to sharing the good news of the kingdom. What a powerful reminder to us as Christian stewards to pay attention not only to people’s spiritual needs but also to their physical needs.

A prayer for this morning: Almighty, eternal God, in the Word of your apostles and prophets, you have proclaimed to us your saving will. Grant us faith to believe your promises that we may receive eternal salvation; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

There’s immediacy and urgency in Christ’s mission: “Preach ‘The kingdom of heaven is near!’ Heal the sick. Raise the dead. Cleanse lepers. Drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” Help people right where they are. Give them the healing balm for their wounds caused by hurt and anger. Give them hope of the resurrection as they face death. Give them the assurance of an eternal home as they see their homes destroyed by fire or violence. We are workers in the ripe harvest fields of our nation.

In this week’s Thirsty podcast, Pastor Matt Hennig is in Casper, WY with a team of his teens to do outreach for Lord of Lords. He and Pastor Zarling examine how the apostle Paul wasn’t bothered by the evaluations of people, as long as the Lord evaluated him as correct in 1 Corinthians 4:1-7. Then we discuss how Jesus demonstrated compassion in motion as he traveled to heal every disease in sickness in Matthew 9:35–10:8. Compassion is love in motion. Jesus is calling you and pointing you toward the world – toward the world he loves, the world he redeemed, the world that is our mission field. It’s time for us to get moving to tell them!

Let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who wants the water of life take it as a gift. We are thirsty, my friends. Quench that thirst in the Water of Life.

Our theme for this week is Say It Loud: Jesus Leads Us.

The Law was given through Moses. He was a marvelous leader of his people, but he could not take them to the Promised Land. The Law can never get God’s people to the promised land. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Joshua, the successor of Moses, defeated the enemies of the people and led them into the Promised Land. Jesus defeats our enemies and shepherds us as his flock. The gracious Gospel of forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus is the only way to the promised land of heaven. Jesus leads us all the way there.

📖 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

We often think of love as a feeling.

Jesus shows us that love is an action.

His love moved Him to the cross. His sacrifice opened the door to forgiveness, hope, and eternal life for all who trust in Him.

🩵 Tag someone who has shown you sacrificial love.
