Wyoming District - LCMS

Wyoming District - LCMS The Wyoming District is made up of 60 congregations that encompass all of the LCMS congregations in Wyoming, the panhandle of Nebraska and one in Colorado.

“TO GOD ALONE BE GLORY”

It is good for us to remember what we are here for as the children of God. That purpose is given to us in passages of Scripture where the Lord says: “I AM THE LORD, THAT IS MY NAME; MY GLORY I GIVE TO NO OTHER, NOR MY PRAISE TO GRAVEN IMAGES.” (Is. 42:8) We are given life, breath, wealth, talent, ability, time and the Gospel that we might glorify God, and Him alone. Thu

s as people of God, the priesthood of believers, God has rescued us from sin, death and the power of the devil that we might live out that purpose by faith in His Son, Jesus, the Christ. “SO, WHETHER YOU EAT OR DRINK, OR WHATEVER YOU DO, DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD.” (I Cor. 10:31) Thus, our chief service to God is praying, praising, thanking God, hearing His Word, using His gifts, the sacraments as He intends. Secondary to that is serving our neighbor in ways that glorify God according to the second table of the Law (Ten Commandments). Not so we are praised, lifted up, given credit, but that God might be praised, glorified for al that we do. In addition, pastors are to glorify God in their ministry, chiefly in praying, praising, thanking God, and preaching/teaching the Word, administering the Sacraments according to the Word of God, under the authority of God. “HE WHO SPEAK ON HIS OWN AUTHORITY SEEKS HIS OWN GLORY, BUT HE WHO SEEKS THE GLORY OF HIM WHO SENT HIM IS TRUE, AND IN HIM IS NO FALSEHOOD.” (John 7:18)

Only through Christ, and in Christ, and with the attitude of humility given by the Lord Jesus will this happen. But that is our Spirit led goal that God might be glorified. Pray that this will be so for all of us in the Wyoming District as we walk together, work together, pray together, and serve the Lord together—“TO GOD ALONE BE GLORY!”

Meet Timothy Mars, a senior at Concordia University, Nebraska (CUNE), studying to be a director of parish music.

“Who influenced me to be a church worker? Definitely my dad, as he is a pastor. I’m a lifelong LCMS Lutheran, and my dad taught me the importance of being a Christian, going to church and spreading the Good News to anyone I can.”

Timothy said his call into church music was emphasized at a camp service: “I was inspired to go into church music when I heard a phenomenal organist, Kantor Steven Hoffman, playing at a camp. When listening to him, I remember thinking for the first time: ‘I want to do that.’”

Growing up in a small town with a pastor‑dad, a strong musical home and a nearby piano teacher, church and music quickly became “two of the biggest priorities” in his life. As he watched his older brother study church music at CUNE, Timothy could see the path in front of him and knew this was where he wanted to be.

Now, through choir, organ, piano and other ensembles, Timothy is preparing to serve as a director of parish music—helping God’s people sing their faith week after week.

Join us in praying for Timothy and all those preparing to serve Him. Leave a comment below to share a word of encouragement for future church workers.
