Greetings to all
I hope this finds you well.
I was talking with someone the other day about what makes a good Christian a good Christian. The conversation started because someone, knowing my background, wanted to share with me that they were a good Christian. So, being who I am, I asked them what made them a good Christian. They then shared that they were a nice person who did nice things. Hmmm... Or does that make you a nice person. Although being nice is part of it, the reading in Matthew provides a rather different perspective on what it means to be a Christian. I have always felt that we are called to be Christians, followers of Jesus, living as Jesus lived, rather than being called to be comfortable.

I invite you to join us on Sunday and share your experience.

I also want to share with you that the life and ministry of the church continues whether you are able to physically attend.

The need is great and the challenges large. I encourage you to continue to give as you are able either by sending a check, we pick up mail daily so it will be secure, or through the giving tab on the church website.

Be kind to each other and those you meet along the way. A little bit of compassion and kindness seems to have an exponential effect in these challenging times.

I look forward to sharing Sunday's service with you however we do it.

And remember, be kind to yourself .

Take care and be well, Peace be with you, Ken

Greetings to all
I hope this finds you well.
I had several interesting conversations over the last couple of weeks. A couple of those conversations made me think about this week's readings.

One was with a businessman visiting one of my clients. My client likes to hire recovering people and those returning from incarceration. This person told my client they would never do that because you can't trust "those" people because they never change. I/m glad Jesus didn't feel the same way.

Another conversation was with one of my nonprofit clients. We discussed how we both serve a significant number of people who are not necessarily in the main stream of society. That includes everyone from distressed populations to people who don't fit in because they think and act differently. All the people Jesus chose to hang out with.

One of my priests growing up would say, "church is a hospital for sinners, not a country club for saints."

Come and share your experience.

Greetings to all
I hope this finds you well.

I must admit that I find it rather troubling when I talk with people and they share their opinions with be about what is going on in their lives and in the world and it seems to be in direct contradiction to what they say they believe. This is even true of some people I know, have known and I thought I knew.

At some point we find ourselves wondering where the Spirit is and waiting for the Spirit to show up. Only to discover the Spirit might be waiting for us to do the same.

Have you ever experienced such a thing? I catch myself thinking, "Come on, God, I need to buy a vowel here." (Wheel of Fortune joke).

In this week's reading, we experience the same situations. Maybe you can relate. Come and share.

Greetings to all.
I hope this finds you well.
Lately, I've been spending a lot of time with people in various forms and stages of transition.

I have a couple clients who need to make difficult decisions about the future of their business. A long time friend whose health is bringing them to a final stage in their life journey.

Not all change comes from negative situations. My friend who has been offered the job opportunity of a lifetime, may need to make some lifestyle changes. Another is experiencing an unexpected yet delightful addition to their family,

All this has me pondering my own journey and the choices I have made, and not made. Choices require change. Even the choice not to choose. Sometimes we do it joyfully, sometimes not so much.

In this week's readings, the disciples find themselves in a time of radical change. Perhaps you can relate to those challenges. Come and share.
