PRIDE: A DANGEROUS DECEPTION

This month, much of the world is celebrating what it calls diversity and inclusion—but as believers, we must be discerning. Many of the lifestyles and choices promoted stand in direct opposition to God’s Word and the foundations of our faith.

As followers of Jesus, the Bible is our standard for truth, identity, and how we live. Anything that contradicts God's design is not just a different opinion—it is sin.

This month is labeled Pride Month. But we must not overlook the spiritual significance of that word. The Bible warns us that pride is not a virtue—it is a dangerous deception.

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
— Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV)

Pride often masks itself as confidence or strength, but in reality, it blinds us to our need for God. It leads us away from humility, obedience, and truth.

“Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility.”
— Proverbs 18:12 (NKJV)

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
— James 4:6 (NKJV)

We are called to love all people and treat everyone with dignity and respect—because every person is made in the image of God. But let us be clear: love does not mean compromise, and respect does not mean celebration of sin.

We do not—and will not—affirm what God calls unrighteous.

Instead, we choose the path of humility. We follow the example of Jesus, who humbled Himself in perfect obedience to the Father. He created us with purpose and intentionality—and we are not free to rewrite His design.

Let us walk in truth, love with conviction, and stand firm in a culture that calls evil good and good evil. May our hearts stay humble, and may our lives reflect the holiness of the One we follow.

Uzzah touched the Ark and died—not because he was evil, but because he was casual.

God’s presence is sacred, not something to handle carelessly.
Worship isn’t entertainment. It’s encounter.

“For our God is a consuming fire.”
— Hebrews 12:29 (NKJV)

Let’s bring back the awe.

Worship isn’t what we get. It’s what we give.
Reverence reminds us: God is not common. He is holy.

“God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.” Psalm 89:7 (NKJV)

Bring your first. Bring your best. Bring your reverence.

You can’t truly know God without reverence.
The fear of the Lord isn’t terror—it’s holy respect. It’s standing in awe, not walking in casually.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
— Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV)

When you lose the wonder, you start to wander.

If we aren't careful we will trade reverence for relevance.
Loud songs. Flashy lights. But where’s the awe? Where’s the trembling before a holy God?

“Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.”
— Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NKJV)

Worship isn’t about hype. Let’s return to reverence.

Worship matters!

Worship isn't about what we get, but what we GIVE to God. In a culture where entertainment often masquerades as worship, we must remember that true worship has always been sacred, powerful, and serious in God's eyes. It's not about our preferences—it's about our offering.

If you don't enjoy worshiping God, then don't expect to go to Heaven. We've become consumers of music rather than producers of worship. True worship isn't about what WE get, but what WE BRING to a holy God.

Take the Plunge!

We offer baptisms every first Sunday of the month at the 9am service. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, your next step is water baptism. Bring a towel and a change of clothes (dark shirt and dark pants or shorts)

Matthew 28:19 (NKJV): "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Worship isn’t entertainment.

It’s not a concert. It’s not a performance.
Worship is surrender.
It’s about honoring God, not pleasing crowds.

We don’t worship to be seen—we worship because He is worthy.
