PRIDE: A DANGEROUS DECEPTION
This month, much of the world is celebrating what it calls diversity and inclusion—but as believers, we must be discerning. Many of the lifestyles and choices promoted stand in direct opposition to God’s Word and the foundations of our faith.
As followers of Jesus, the Bible is our standard for truth, identity, and how we live. Anything that contradicts God's design is not just a different opinion—it is sin.
This month is labeled Pride Month. But we must not overlook the spiritual significance of that word. The Bible warns us that pride is not a virtue—it is a dangerous deception.
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
— Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV)
Pride often masks itself as confidence or strength, but in reality, it blinds us to our need for God. It leads us away from humility, obedience, and truth.
“Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility.”
— Proverbs 18:12 (NKJV)
“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
— James 4:6 (NKJV)
We are called to love all people and treat everyone with dignity and respect—because every person is made in the image of God. But let us be clear: love does not mean compromise, and respect does not mean celebration of sin.
We do not—and will not—affirm what God calls unrighteous.
Instead, we choose the path of humility. We follow the example of Jesus, who humbled Himself in perfect obedience to the Father. He created us with purpose and intentionality—and we are not free to rewrite His design.
Let us walk in truth, love with conviction, and stand firm in a culture that calls evil good and good evil. May our hearts stay humble, and may our lives reflect the holiness of the One we follow.
