I am excited to see God use this group from Valley Christian Schools. We will be heading out along with 9 other teams from Valley to spread the gospel all over the world 🌎.

My team is heading to Brazil where we will be on boat going down the Amazon River. Each day will be filled with stops at different villages.

We are scheduled to do eye glass ministry and door to door evangelism and many other activities.

All though this is not a V4E trip, it is awesome to see the eye glasses and gospel bracelets being used once again to spread the good news of Jesus.

Not only has God open doors for V4E to be used in Brazil but we are sending a ministry bag with the group heading to Mexico. The Mexico team will have New Testament Bibles and gospel bracelets.

I am so blessed and thankful that God uses V4E!

Please pray for the teams, pray for salvations , pray for safety, and pray for unity within the teams.

I know God will do great things and I can’t wait for these students to see the Love of God in action.

Thanks for praying 🙏
Eric

Update from Todd on Eli

7/10 Update:

Eli continues to make progress. A couple days ago while sleeping he ripped his PICC line all the way out and bled all over the bed. Think it was probably bothering him. Then later that morning he was told that he would be getting his feeding tube out later that day, so, while Emily was in the hall on a phone call and I ran down to get lunch, he decided he would play nurse and remove it himself. When I stepped back in the room he was twirling the end of it 🤦‍♂️. So, no more feeding tube 🙌🏻. He’s eating well.

Yesterday he got his PICC line back in and we explained why it was really needed and he hasn’t messed with it since. PT is going great. He is picking up and throwing bean bags with his left hand and walking up stairs no problem.

He’s continuing to build back connections in his brain. He is talking better and more often every day. As long as things keep progressing, Doctors and therapist are thinking that he may be able to go home this week. It’s been a long time to be in a hospital room so he definitely wants to go.

The rest of the family is doing pretty well but it has definitely been hard on everyone.

Thank you for your continued prayers for our whole family and all the love and support we have been given.

Update on Eli

7/7 Update:

Eli had another good day today. He's getting stronger and feeling better every day. He did PT at the gym today and was even walking up and down stairs. His swallow study went well so they upgraded him to solid food! He loved eating "real" food again. Hopefully his feeding tube can come out soon. They are weaning him off the steroid over the next 3 days. And then if everything else is going well, we may be looking at going home shortly after. He will go home with seizure meds and the antibiotics and continue them for a while. We will also be doing PT, OT and speech therapy for a while. As God continues to heal his mind and body, we're praying that he draws Eli's heart closer to Himself as well. I know this has changed Eli and our whole family in many ways...praying against any anger/bitterness and for the change to all be for good.

This is the latest from Todd . Todd is the director for the compass.

7/5 Update:

On the road to recovery! We had a busy day with visits from the infectious disease doctor, the pediatric doctor, the surgeon, dietitian, speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and his case worker. Everyone was very happy with Eli's improvement! The infectious disease doctor said his official diagnosis is Subdural Empyema (basically infection in the head under the dura layer). Then the infection built up and shifted and put pressure on the brain. He is still on heavy antibiotics and anti-seizure medicine (which he will be for weeks) but most of the discussion today has been about therapy and what goals need to be reached to be able to go home.

Today, Eli got up and walked with minimal support from others! His left side is still weaker but the leg is supporting him ok. Motor skills and especially the fine motor of the left arm are still not good but they're improving and I assume those take longer to come back. He is still on a feeding tube for now but also eating apple sauce, yogurt and pudding. This is all a HUGE difference from just a few days ago when he had been the most critical patient in the ICU for a while. We're so excited and proud of Eli! It is tough for him to be struggling to talk and to do some of the basic things but he is trying really hard and trying hard not to get frustrated.

We feel blessed by the love and support so many have given us and the grace and mercy God has shown us. To Him all the Glory. We'll be in the hospital for a number of more days at least. I will try to give updates periodically along the way to full recovery.

Thanks again to everyone...we Love you!

Please join us in Prayer for Eli

This is the ministry that we recently partnered with this past week.

THE COMPASS family!

As many of you have probably heard, our 13 yr old Eli Brigham is in the ICU at Providence hospital. Eli developed meningitis (inflammation/infection on the brain). He is making forward progress (thank you Jesus) and is a fighter but has a long road ahead. His vitals are good and he is responsive and saying a few words but his speech and motor skills on his left side are diminished because of the pressure from the infection on his brain. Please pray that the antibiotics would fight the infection and reduce the pressure without needing surgery. 🙏🏻

If you have encouraging things to tell Eli, comment below and we’ll read them to him. Or feel free to send cards or drop cards off at The Compass for him.

We love you all and are so thankful for all the prayers and support. God is good and is faithful on both the mountain tops and in the valley and we are trying our best to trust God to give us strength and help us through this…but this is really stinkin’ hard! So please pray for me (Todd) and Emily, Braden, and Josie as well.

Isaiah 41:10: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Day 6 & 7-
This trip ended with a day of exploring parts of Alaska. The team went for a hike to the Russian Falls and visited the Russian Orthodox Church. The kids enjoyed a game of ’ninja’ while waiting for the hike to begin. The team made the 5.2 mile hike in total and enjoyed lunch at the falls. There were many moose sightings on the drive and by the end of the trip everyone had at least seen one moose.
In the evening, everyone gathered back at the Compass to say goodbyes to the locals and to enjoy the view of the finished mural. The night ended with lots of packing and cleaning in preparation for morning. The team left Nikiski, Alaska before 5am the next day. After the long drive, a short layover, and two flights everyone made it home safely.
