As we near the end of our Bible memory challenge through the book of Titus, we invite you to join us this month in meditating on verses 12-13.

Remember, scripture memory is an essential practice in the life of a believer. Through God's word, we come to understand His nature and His desires for our lives. By committing scripture to memory, we carry His wisdom and guidance with us at all times, ready to draw upon it in moments of need or to share it as a blessing with others. If you haven't been studying with us from the beginning, don't worry; there's no better time to start than now!

Join us this month as we delve into Titus 3:6-8. As we commit these verses to memory, let's meditate on the generosity of God, who "poured out the Holy Spirit generously through Jesus Christ our Savior." This act of divine kindness is a testament to our salvation, not by our deeds, but by His mercy, through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. These verses remind us of the importance of maintaining good deeds, not as a means to earn salvation, but as a reflection of our faith and gratitude for the grace we have received. Embracing these scriptures in our hearts and minds, let us inspire each other to live lives that are zealous for good works, showcasing the transformation brought about by our faith in Jesus Christ.

Every church has its opportunities and challenges. That has been true since the church was founded in the early part of the first century A.D. In Thessalonica, the church existed in a commercial center where ancient trade routes came together. The city was a metropolis in Greece with nearly 100,000 residents when the apostle Paul ventured into it. Because of his conflict with Jewish people there, Paul fled as the Jews formed a mob and threatened to murder him and his companions. This was only a short time after he had started his ministry among the Gentiles in the city.

Paul was so concerned about these new Christians that he wrote them a letter (1 Thessalonians). It was around 50 A.D. and Paul was already church planting in Corinth. He wrote these dear saints in Thessalonica to defend his motives and means for planting the church there, to exhort them to live the right kind of Christian life, and to comfort those who were grieving at the death of loved ones.

As a church in the 21st century America, we are somewhat detached from the language and culture of ancient Thessalonica. However, we do know the power of the gospel in our salvation, the struggle with sin and Satan, and the importance of living God-pleasing lives. The themes of this letter still resonate here and now. We need to show each other Christian love (4:9-12) and face grief with Christian hope (4:13-18).

Join us this Spring as we dive headfirst into the pool of Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians:

March 17: Evidence of the Gospel Power in a Changed Life (1:1-10)
March 24: The Measure of Effective Ministry (2:1-13)
April 7: Satan Trembles When the Gospel is Preached (2:14-3:10)
April 14: God Gives the Increase (3:11-13)
April 21: Rejoicing God's Heart (4:1-2)
April 28: The Necessity of Moral Purity (4:3-8)
May 12: Mutual Love (4:9-12)
May 19: Grief Overcome Through Hope (4:13-18)
May 26: One Eye Open (5:1-11)
June 2: My Responsibility to Others (5:12-15)
June 9: My Responsibility to God (5:16-22)
June 23: Our Responsibility (5:23-28)
