Join us this Sunday as we welcome to the pulpit Margaret Velto!

Margaret Velto (she/her) is a white, q***r, neurodivergent, disabled ciswoman originally from Cary, North Carolina. She joined Good Shepherd as an infant, where the choir would play “Pass the Baby” during practice while her mom, Linda, was occupied with the piano. Inspired by her upbringing in the United Church of Christ and Quaker traditions, Margaret believes that spirituality and the struggle for justice are inherently intertwined. This belief led her to following a ministerial journey in faith-based reproductive advocacy, having served as a member of the Governing Board for the Spiritual Alliance of Communities for Reproductive Dignity (SACReD) for nearly five years. Margaret graduated from Louisville Seminary in 2026 with her Master of Divinity and Oberlin College in 2022 with a B.A. in Gender, Sexuality, & Feminist Studies and Religion. Margaret currently resides in Louisville, KY and was recently hired as the Director of Discipleship and Community Engagement at Ridgewood Baptist Church. Outside of work, she enjoys attending baseball games, binge-watching true crime documentaries, and chasing after her friends’ toddlers; she is also the proud human of her much beloved, and very clingy, orange tabby, Bart.

Our partner shared, “At this critical moment, we would greatly appreciate your prayers for Nepal.”

Please join us in praying for those who have lost loved ones, those still missing, displaced families, rescue workers, and our partners working to bring help and hope.

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:6

Throughout June–August, our Garden Church youth gathered on Sundays. Together we planted, watered, weeded, and harvested cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, and beans.

Most importantly, we learned that what we grow can help others. Our harvest was weighed, bagged, and donated to NeighborUp to help provide fresh food to our neighbors. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who made Garden Church such a fun and meaningful part of our summer!

What did you grow this summer—literally or figuratively? 🌱
