Our summer farm-to-church CSA season will begin on June 27 and continue through August 22. The $150 cost for the eight-week season includes enough items each week for two people for four meals.

The produce will be provided by John and Brenda Bryant from JBCubed Farm in Henderson, and will be available in the GSUCC breezeway each Saturday morning between 9:30-10:30. In addition, we can order fresh farm-raised eggs for $7 a dozen that will be delivered on the same Saturdays as the vegetables.

This Saturday, June 13, 9-noon we are holding our third mini-retreat here at Good Shepherd as part of the Abundant Life Initiative and Grant we received to support people’s mental health and wellbeing. Justin Ridley and Rebecca Allen will lead us in art, nature, and meditation practices to help support our wellbeing.

Good Shepherd will host a "Know Your Rights" workshop on Thursday June 11th at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary, presented by the advocacy group North Carolina Asian Americans Together. At such a crucial time in our nation, we are excited about this important discussion about our constitutional rights with immigration law enforcement.

We will use this time together to delve into updates on the current landscape of ICE and immigration law enforcement in our state; our rights in different settings: at home, in public, and in traffic; and ways in which we can take action. This event is open to anyone, so please invite friends and neighbors!

The Blessing of the Land and covered dish meal at JBCubed Farm is TOMORROW, Saturday June 6, at 12:00pm. John and Brenda Bryant, the farmers who grow most of the veggies we receive weekly through our farm-to-church CSA, and the network of churches supporting farmers of color are sponsoring this event. This farm is where most of the veggies and the eggs come from that we receive through our CSA.

JBCubed Farm is located at 5240 NC 39 Hwy North, Henderson, NC, about an hour from GSUCC. Bring a side dish to share for the covered dish meal. Those who wish to help with some planting are requested to bring hats and gloves. See you there!

This Sunday, June 7, will be our first Garden Church of the summer! Garden Church will be held on select Sundays throughout the summer while Sunday School is on break.

If you are new to Garden Church, it has a rich history. Started by members of GSUCC, and named by our kids and youth! After A Time with Children and Youth in the Sunday service, the kids and youth depart to the Christian Education building to prepare to head out to the church garden. The kids, tend, plant, grow, harvest and learn throughout the summer. The grown produce is donated to the local food pantry that we support formerly Dorcas, now NeighborUp.

Join us for our Fifth Sunday Intergenerational Service and Potluck this Sunday, May 31. A shared meal will be integrated into our 10:30am worship and Brenda and John Bryant, the farmers who provide the CSA shares to our church each week, will be our special guests.

Our Wednesday Morning Spirituality Group meets at 10:30am in High House for our final gathering TODAY, May 27. In June while spirituality group takes a break, folks will gather in the breezeway for a brown bag lunch at 11:30 on Wednesdays.
