We truly believe that "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Because of our commitment as a church to this command of Christ, we are a busy church. We make every attempt to be generous with our time, talents and gifts. As individual members, and as a congregation, we are a searching church. Again, we are commanded "ask and it will be given to you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be

opened unto you." We study, search the scriptures, and worship together in order to glorify God, be reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus Christ, and to receive and be led by the Holy Spirit. We believe that people living Christian lives will make a positive difference in this community and world. It is this type of Christian life that we are earnestly seeking. We believe that we are able to minister to a variety of people because of the make-up of our church family. We have both young and more mature members, but the significant point about our membership is that we want to have you among us.

Bishop-elect Luther Oconer has been consecrated to episcopal ministry at General Conference 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa. His consecration follows his election as Bishop of Episcopal Area One, which includes Mega Manila. We invite our churches to continue praying for Bishop Luther and the other newly consecrated bishops as they begin their ministry across the global church.

Rev. Dr. Luther Oconer has been elected a bishop of the Global Methodist Church and will serve Episcopal Area 1, which includes the Mississippi–West Tennessee Annual Conference.

Episcopal Area 1 brings together seven annual conferences from across the globe: Tanzania, Covenant Philippines, India, Mega Manila Philippines, Panama, Mississippi–West Tennessee, and Trinity.

Dr. Oconer currently serves as Conference Superintendent of the Mega Manila Annual Conference in the Philippines and as Associate Professor of Global Wesleyan Theology at Asbury Theological Seminary. He brings experience in pastoral ministry, conference leadership, and theological education to the Global Methodist movement.

We look forward to welcoming Bishop Oconer and working alongside him as we continue our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe. Please be in prayer for Bishop Oconer, his family, and the annual conferences he will serve in this new role.

Today marks a historic day in the history of the Global Methodist Church. Beginning at 1:45 p.m. South Africa time, the plenary began the election for the first slate of full-time bishops for the GMC. Elections for each episcopal area will occur one at a time over the next two days. Results will be released by area as they become available.
