Often we presume that when we understand, we will have faith. However, the Scriptures tell us that just the opposite is true. Faith does not follow understanding, understanding follows faith. The assurance that faith brings alive in our heart reminds us: We depend on God and God is completely dependable. “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” Heb. 11:3

One day C. H. Spurgeon was walking through the English countryside with a friend. As they strolled along, the evangelist noticed a barn with a weather vane on its roof. At the top of the vane were these words: GOD IS LOVE. Spurgeon remarked to his companion that he thought this was a rather inappropriate place for such a message. “Weather vanes are changeable,” he said, “but God’s love is constant.”
“I don’t agree with you about those words, Charles,” replied his friend. “You misunderstood the meaning. That sign is indicating a truth: Regardless of which way the wind blows, God is love.”

“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” A spare tire is usually only used in case of an emergency. The steering wheel however, is needed every moment that you’re in the car. The steering wheel allows you to navigate and be protected from the things that may come into your driving space. If you’re moving, you need your hands on the steering wheel. A spare tire is used so rarely, sometimes we even forget we have it.
