You're Still My Portion
Scripture Reading

Psalm 73:25–26

Reflection

Asaph arrives at one of the greatest declarations in all of Scripture:
"Whom have I in heaven but You?"

His circumstances have not necessarily changed, but his priorities have. We often chase temporary things believing they'll satisfy us—success, money, approval, relationships, or possessions. None of those are wrong by themselves, but none can become our portion. A portion was an inheritance. Asaph realizes that God Himself is the greatest inheritance anyone could ever receive. Everything else can disappear. Health can fail. Jobs can change. People may disappoint. Dreams sometimes collapse. But God remains.
That's why believers can still sing in difficult seasons. Our song isn't based on circumstances; it's based on God's unchanging character. When God becomes your portion, life's temporary losses cannot destroy your eternal hope.

Prayer

Lord, help me treasure You above everything else. Remind me that You are enough and that Your presence is my greatest blessing. Amen.

The Playlist of Grace

Psalm 73:21–24

Reflection

One of the most beautiful moments in Psalm 73 is Asaph's confession. He admits he was bitter. He admits he misunderstood God's ways. Instead of making excuses, he owns his attitude. Yet God's response is remarkable. God never abandoned Asaph during his struggle. "Nevertheless, I am continually with You."
Grace means God stays close even when our hearts wander. He doesn't love us because our faith is perfect. He loves us because His character is perfect. Sometimes we think we have to earn God's presence by having everything together. The gospel tells another story. Even when Asaph was confused, God was holding his right hand. That's good news for anyone who has had a bad week, made poor decisions, or struggled with doubt. God's grip is stronger than your weakness. The soundtrack of grace keeps playing even when you've missed a few notes.

Prayer

Thank You, Father, for never letting go of me. Thank You that Your grace is greater than my failures and Your love remains constant. Help me walk confidently because You are holding me. Amen.

Don't Kill My Vibe

Psalm 73:13–17

Reflection

There are moments when disappointment threatens to steal our spiritual joy. Asaph reaches a breaking point. He wonders whether serving God has been worth it. His emotions tell him that faith has accomplished nothing.

Everything changes in verse 17: "Until I came into the sanctuary of God."

The sanctuary didn't immediately change his circumstances, but it changed his perspective. Worship recalibrated his heart. In God's presence, Asaph saw life differently.

We all have "vibe killers." Fear. Bitterness. Anxiety. Unanswered prayers. Unexpected losses. They all try to drown out the melody God has placed in our souls.

The answer isn't pretending those things don't exist. The answer is returning to God's presence where our perspective is renewed. Worship reminds us that God is still on the throne even when life feels out of tune.

When the world tries to kill your joy, don't abandon worship. Lean into it. God's presence has a way of restoring what discouragement tries to steal.

Prayer

Lord, when discouragement threatens my joy, draw me into Your presence. Replace my frustration with faith and my confusion with confidence in You. Amen.

When the Music Changes

Psalm 73:1–3

Reflection

Life has a way of changing the soundtrack. One moment you're singing with joy, and the next you're asking questions you never thought you'd ask. Asaph begins Psalm 73 with an honest confession. He knows God is good, yet his circumstances make him wonder if that goodness still applies to him. He looks around and sees wicked people prospering while faithful people struggle.

Most of us have been there. We scroll through social media, compare our lives with someone else's highlight reel, and quietly wonder why our story feels harder. Comparison slowly steals contentment. It whispers that God has forgotten us.

But notice something important: Asaph doesn't hide his feelings from God. He brings them honestly before Him. Faith is not pretending everything is fine; faith is bringing your confusion into God's presence.

This week begins with permission to be honest. God is not intimidated by your questions. He already knows your heart. Sometimes the first step toward healing isn't finding all the answers—it's refusing to walk away from the One who has them.

The soundtrack may have changed, but God has not.

Prayer

Father, thank You for welcoming my honest heart. Help me resist comparison and trust that Your goodness is greater than what I can currently see. Keep my eyes fixed on You rather than on what others have. Amen.
