John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
As I sit here tonight, reflecting on the upcoming holiday on Monday, I cannot help but feel a complete whirlwind of emotion; Sadness, gratitude, thankfulness, even a bit of anger. But all in all blessed. The thought that someone cared enough to not only sacrifice by the way of leaving everything behind to be mentally and physically torn down, just to be rebuilt through stringent and at times excruciating training, but that they fought through the blood sweat and tears, to be ready at a moments notice to go to the chaos of conflict and war. To hold on to memories of their mothers, fathers siblings, boyfriends/girlfriends, spouses, and everything/everyone else they left behind, just hoping and praying they could get back to see them one last time. Some did and thank God they did, but some did not, they left this life and entered eternity, fighting with their very last breath to ensure that we have the life and freedoms we have today. Some were flown home in a flag draped coffin, to be greeted by their grieving family, others never made it back at all. Some say Happy Memorial day, some say enjoy, but in all sincerity, lets remember those who made that ultimate sacrifice with humbleness, humility, and courage. Lets pray for their families and friends that were left behind, knowing that there is a hole left in their hearts that will never truly be healed. We pray that on this upcoming day of remembrance, that God will wrap His arms around them and comfort them in a way that only He can. We pray that even in their moments of greif somewhere, somehow, and someway they can look back remember and grasp a memory and smile even for just a moment. As always we invite you to come and worship with us in the morning at Caney Fork MBC. We love you all and may God richly bless each of you.
