“O Lord Jesus Christ, Who before ascending into heaven, promised to send the Holy Ghost to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me, that He may perfect in my soul the work of Your grace and Your love.

Grant me the Spirit of WISDOM, that I may despise the perishable things of this world, and aspire only after the things that are eternal; the Spirit of UNDERSTANDING, to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth; the Spirit of COUNSEL, that I may ever choose the surest ways of pleasing God and gaining heaven; the Spirit of FORTITUDE, that I may bear my cross with You, and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation; the Spirit of KNOWLEDGE, that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints; the Spirit of PIETY, that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable; and the Spirit of FEAR of the LORD, that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him.

Also cultivate in my soul Your fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23); and generosity, modesty, and chastity (1 Peter 3:3–4, 2 Timothy 1:7, 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5). 🍇

Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples, and animate me in all things with Your spirit. Amen.” 🙏🕊️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.” 🕊️🔥

Happy Solemnity of Pentecost! Today is fifty days after Easter, and the fulfillment of Christ’s promise in John Ch. 14: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

St. Augustine, a Doctor & Father of the Church, taught us that the soul of the Church is the Holy Spirit: “Just as in one man there is one soul and one body, yet many members; even so the Catholic Church is one body, having many members. The soul that quickens this body is the Holy Spirit; and therefore in the Creed after confessing our belief in the Holy Spirit, we are bid to believe in the Holy Catholic Church.”

As the Spirit poured out fire upon Mary and the Apostles in the upper room, the Church was born! Today we celebrate the Birthday of the Church with St. Michael and all the angels and saints in heaven 🔥 Amen! 🙏

“Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.” 🙏

Happy Solemnity of the Ascension, prayer warriors! 🤍 🔥 ⚔️🙏

🪽 On May 8th the Church celebrates the origins of the St. Michael Sanctuary in Gargano, Italy. The liturgical feast titled “The Apparition of St. Michael, Archangel”, which commemorates an event that took place during the reign of Pope Gelasius (492-6).

In the year 492, as the story goes, a bull strayed from the herd of a rich land owner from the nearby town of Siponto, which lay at the foot of Mount Gargano. The bull found its way into a cave near the summit of the mountain. The herdsman, hoping to frighten the bull out of the cave, fired an arrow into its dark recesses. Quite shockingly, the arrow miraculously returned, wounding the man who fired it. In the face of such a strange and miraculous occurrence, the man and his companions who witnessed the event sought the council of their local bishop. He recommended three days of prayer and fasting to discern the meaning behind the phenomenon. On the third day, these pious practices were answered when St. Michael appeared to the bishop and said:

“You have done well to ask God what was hidden from men. A miracle that struck the man with his own arrow, so that it was clear that all this happens by my will.

I am the Archangel Michael and I am always in the presence of God. The cave is sacred to me. And since I have decided to protect this place and its inhabitants on Earth, I wanted to attest in this way that I am of this place and of everything that takes place as patron and custodian.

Where the rock is thrown open, the sins of men can be forgiven. What will be asked here in prayer will be granted. Go therefore to the mountain and dedicate the the cave to Christian worship.”

Let us pray:
“St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the Divine power of God,
cast into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.” 🙏

⚜ On May 8th, 492 the Apparition of Saint Michael the Archangel occurred in Monte Gargano, Italy 🇮🇹

A man named Gargan was pasturing his large herds in the Italian countryside. One day a bull fled to the mountain, where at first it could not be found. When its refuge in a cave was discovered, an arrow was shot into the cave, but the arrow returned to wound the one who had sent it. Faced with so mysterious an occurrence, the persons concerned decided to consult the bishop of the region. He ordered three days of fasting and prayers.

After three days, the Archangel Saint Michael appeared to the bishop and declared that the cavern where the bull had taken refuge was under his protection, and that God wanted it to be consecrated under his name and in honor of all the Holy Angels.

Accompanied by his clergy and people, the Pope went to that cavern, which he found already disposed in the form of a church. The divine mysteries were celebrated there, and there arose in this same place a magnificent temple where the divine Power has wrought great miracles. To thank God for the protection by the holy Archangel Michael, the effect of His merciful Providence, this feast day was instituted by the Church in his honor.

Saint Michael is not only the protector of the Church, but of every faithful soul. By humility he defeated the devil; we who are enlisted in the same warfare must adopt his weapons — humility and ardent love of God. Regarding this Archangel as our leader under God, let us courageously resist the devil in all his assaults with our protector’s famous exclamation: “Who is like unto God?” (Answer: No one is like God) 🔥⚔️

We also thank God for our pope, Leo XIV, who was made pope one year ago. Deo Gratias!

“St. Michael, pray for us!” 🙏

“Mary, I give you my heart. Always keep it yours. Jesus, Mary, always be my friends. I beg you, let me die rather than be so unfortunate as to commit a single sin. Amen.” - Prayer by St. Dominic Savio

This month of May is dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary, and we honor her as Jesus did; in honoring her, we grow in virtue and closer to God. Today is also the Feast of St. Dominic Savio who died at the age of 14, and is venerated as a model of holiness for youth; he is the patron saint of choirboys, altar servers, and anyone who is falsely accused. He was a student of St. John Bosco, patron of youth.

St. Dominic Savio also held a deep devotion to St. Joseph, whom he called “good father” and “protector.” Wednesdays are dedicated to the Most Chaste Heart of St. Joseph, the foster-father of Jesus and spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Just as Fridays are for the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Saturdays for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Wednesdays invite the faithful to honor St. Joseph, seek his intercession, and imitate his virtues—especially chastity, obedience, humility, and diligence. Men ought to particularly emulate his pure love and chastity, silent strength, protector and guardian of Mary and Jesus.
