This week is a special week for those who are in Christ. It is a week that is set apart as Holy Week. It begins with the remembrance of Palm Sunday and then culminates with the celebration of Easter Sunday. Here at The Ridge we look at these gatherings as one continuous story from one gathering to the next.

Join us this week as we read through scripture each day to prepare our heart for Easter.

You can also join us in person this week:

✝️ Good Friday (Apr 3 @ 7 pm) - On this night we look back to the cross with our dear brothers and sisters from Nahnum Church. This service will be for everyone.

💐 Easter Egg Hunt (Apr 4 @ 10-Noon) - Bring the whole family to our Easter community event! Come snack, play games, and hunt for eggs.

🌅 Easter Sunday (Apr 5 @ 10 am) - This morning will culminate Holy Week with a celebration of Christ and His resurrection. We will have classes for all children through 5th grade.

“Christmas is our chance to move closer to those in crisis, not further away. It is our time to notice those who are normally ignored. In short, it is our turn to love as we have been loved."

Advent focuses on Christ’s two comings: His incarnation and His return for His bride, the church. We must remember the purpose for His first coming. The apostle Paul tells us why He came saying, "For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh" (Romans 8.3). Christmas is about what God did for us, which we could not do for ourselves. JI Packer said, "The cradle led to the cross – we must see it in this context. It is more than a marvel of nature, but a marvel of grace". As we read this week, let us remember His purpose for coming.

An important part of the advent season is waiting. Each year, in our month of waiting to mark the arrival of God himself in human flesh, we remember the people of God who waited centuries for the coming of the promised Messiah to rescue them. We now live in the age of the Messiah. Christ has come as the climax of history and shown us the Father and His grace for sinners. It is good for us, though, to rehearse the patient waiting and anticipation of God’s ancient people to renew and deepen our appreciation of what we now have in Him. May it be so as we are encouraged by the advent readings and devotionals.

This past Sunday Grace Kizer stepped down as our Children's Director after 3 years of serving our fellowship. Grace and her husband Will have been such a blessing to our congregation. We are so thankful for the way she has lovingly cared for our children to teach them about the Lord.

We pray that this coming season of change blesses the Kizer family!

For Christians, we have long linked the month of December with the birth of our Savior and a month of anticipation called Advent. Adventus is Latin for arrival or coming. The arrival we wait for is Jesus’s arrival. We look back rejoicing at Jesus’ birth, but with the same waiting as God’s people of old, we wait for Jesus’ second coming. Join us this season in following the stories of the arrival of Jesus and let your heart be filled with worship for Him.
