To my beloved church family,
I want to let you know about something that I have begun doing, and I don’t want it to be misunderstood as a lack of love or concern for anyone.
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, our church is governed by a Constitution and Bylaws, just like many other organizations. Those bylaws establish the standards for active voting membership, and every person who became a member agreed to those standards.
Because of our responsibility to faithfully follow our governing documents, I have begun the process of moving individuals who no longer meet the requirements for active voting membership to our inactive membership list.
Please understand what this does—and what it does not—mean.
Being moved to the inactive membership list does not mean you are no longer welcome at Living Hope Assembly of God. You are always welcome to attend our services, worship with us, and be part of our church family. This change simply means you will no longer be eligible for responsibilities that are reserved for active voting members, such as serving in certain leadership positions or voting in church business meetings.
For the vast majority of our church family, this change will have no practical impact. It is simply a matter of ensuring that we remain faithful to the Constitution and Bylaws that govern our church.
I love each of you deeply, and my desire is always to lead our church with both compassion and integrity. Thank you for your understanding, your prayers, and your continued commitment to what God is doing through our church.
With love,
Pastor JD Dorton
