Our congregations accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone. For more than 2,000 years people have asked this question. We were not present when Jesus lived on this earth, but in the Bible we have the record of His birth, life, death on the cross, and resurrection. Through the study of the Bible, you can seek the answer to this age-old question. What does "Synod" mean? The word "Synod" in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod comes from Greek words that mean "walking together." The term has rich meaning in our church body, because congregations voluntarily choose to belong to the Synod. Though diverse in their service, our congregations hold to a shared confession of Jesus Christ as taught in Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions. Lutheran congregations are confessional. Our congregations believe the Lutheran Confessions are a correct interpretation and presentation of biblical doctrine. Contained in The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, these statements of belief were transcribed and shared broadly by church leaders during the 16th century. Luther's Small Catechism contains essential summaries of our beliefs, while the Augsburg Confession gives more detail about what Lutherans believe. "What About?" Series

"What About?" is a series of 27 pamphlets, written by former Synod President Rev. Barry, that address doctrinal topics, moral issues and concerns in the church to help Christians grow in their understanding of these important questions.

Starting in September, we will be doing something different for our Sunday Adult Bible Class. We will be learning what Lutherans believe. Sometimes we grow up in our Church and aren't sure exactly what we believe, or maybe you went to Confirmation and forgot what you were taught. This is a great chance to dive back in. The important thing is that you do not need any prior knowledge to come! We hope to see you in September right after Church!

Next week, September 2nd, is our first Dwelling for the year. Each Wednesday, we will share a meal, do family-led learning of a Bible Story, pray together, do an activity, and do a craft. Bring your whole family, slow down, and be in community with others!

For this first Dwelling, we will do a potluck, and the theme will be"tailgate finger foods."

We are a week away from our Family Picnic! Come enjoy fellowship through a meal and yard games with other families in the community of Carroll. We will be serving hotdogs and hamburgers and sides.

We are aware that Carroll ISD is having their Meet the Teacher Night during this time, so we would love to see you either before or after you visit your new teachers for the year. Come when you can and enjoy some time together!

We are also in need of some help to get this event prepared. If you are willing to help set up tables and chairs, set up yard games, or cook the hotdogs and hamburgers, please contact our DCE, Abby. There will also be a sign-up sheet in the narthex at church on Sunday.
