We will celebrate the Presentation of the Lord on Sunday, also known as Candlemas Day. Please bring candles to Mass for a blessing. This blessing has its roots in Sunday’s Gospel, where Simeon tells Mary and Joseph that the baby Jesus would be “a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” May these blessed candles serve as a reminder that we are meant to be the light of Christ to the world.

Celebraremos la Presentación del Señor este domingo, también conocido como el Día de la Candelaria. Por favor, traiga velas a la Misa para bendecirlas. Esta bendición tiene sus raíces en el Evangelio del domingo, donde Simeón les dice a María y José que el niño Jesús sería “luz para revelación a los gentiles y gloria para tu pueblo Israel”. Que estas velas benditas sirvan como recordatorio de que estamos destinados a ser la luz de Cristo para el mundo.

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” Mark 4:30-32.

“If you truly want to help the soul of your neighbor, you should approach God first with all your heart. Ask him to simply fill you with charity, the greatest of all virtues; with it you can accomplish what you desire.” St. Vincent Ferrer.

Lord Jesus from humble beginnings You invite us to grow into amazing adults, mature people who are Your pride and the pride of others. We are sorry for letting You down and others when we fail to realize all our potential; failing to become a big shrub where others can take shade. But we know we can always recover and rise to the glory You ordained for us. In You we put our trust. Amen.

Señor Jesús, desde nuestros humildes comienzos, nos invitas a convertirnos en adultos increíbles, personas maduras que son tu orgullo y el orgullo de los demás. Lamentamos haberte decepcionado a ti y a los demás cuando no logramos realizar todo nuestro potencial; no se convierte en un gran arbusto donde otros pueden tomar sombra. Pero sabemos que siempre podemos recuperarnos y elevarnos a la gloria que Tú ordenaste para nosotros. En Ti ponemos nuestra confianza. Amén.

Lord Jesus, it is Your Spirit we need to cover us and empower us to be pilgrims of hope without wavering, stirring up others to love, doing good works and joining community to light our praises to You our God. May Your Spirit enable us to encourage others to embrace Your love and mercy. Amen.

Señor Jesús, es Tu Espíritu el que necesitamos para cubrirnos y empoderarnos para ser peregrinos de esperanza sin vacilar, incitando a otros a amar, haciendo buenas obras y uniéndonos a la comunidad para encender nuestras alabanzas a Ti nuestro Dios. Que Tu Espíritu nos permita animar a otros a abrazar Tu amor y misericordia. Amén.

But those that were sown upon the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” Mark 4:18-20.

“Lord, keep your grace in my heart. Live in me so that your grace be mine. Make it that I may bear everyday some flowers and new fruit.” St. Gianna Beretta Molla.

Lord Jesus we long to be fruitful in our lives. Pluck out of our life the thorns which choke all that is godly in us; the inordinate care for the world, the unhealthy delight and desires and all that which militate against You within us. May Your grace bring plenty of fruit in our lives. Amen.

The Respect Life group invites us to join in praying the First Saturday Rosary on Saturday, February 1st, outside the church on the Linden Side at 11 AM. The rosary is offered for an end to abortion and for peace in the world.

Respeto a la Vida nos invita a rezar el rosario el Primer Sábado del mes el sábado, 1 de febrero, afuera de la iglesia al lado de la calle Linden a las 11 de la mañana. El rosario es ofrecido por el fin del ab**to y por la paz del mundo.

“At that time: The mother of Jesus and his brethren came . . . and they said to him, “Your mother and your brethren are outside, asking for you.” And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brethren?” And looking around on those who sat about him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brethren! Whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Mark 3:31-35.

“Do something. Get moving. Be confident. Risk new things. Stick with it. Get on your knees. Then be ready for big surprises.” St. Angela Merici.

Lord Jesus, doing the will of Your Father makes us Your brother, sister or mother. We thank You for extending this relationship of family to us when we are bonded to You. Like St. Thomas Aquinas may we so be imbued in Your love that we may articulate it in our lives for our benefit of all others in our life. Amen.

Señor Jesús, hacer la voluntad de Tu Padre nos hace Tu hermano, hermana o madre. Te damos gracias por extendernos esta relación de familia cuando estamos unidos a Ti. Al igual que Santo Tomás de Aquino, que estemos imbuidos de Tu amor de tal manera que podamos articularlo en nuestras vidas para nuestro beneficio de todos los demás en nuestra vida. Amén.

The Confirmation II Retreat 2025 was a great event thanks to the efforts of Nancy Perez and volunteers. It featured music, talks, activities, and prayer, allowing Confirmation students to connect with God and seek guidance. The retreat left the students with faith-filled hearts and a renewed sense of purpose. Thank you to everyone who made this Confirmation retreat such a success!

El Retiro de Confirmación II 2025 fue un evento exitoso gracias al esfuerzo de Nancy Pérez y los voluntarios. Incluyó música, charlas, actividades y oración, lo que permitió a los estudiantes de la Confirmación conectarse con Dios y buscar guía. El retiro dejó a los estudiantes con corazones llenos de fe y un renovado sentido de propósito. ¡Gracias a todos los que hicieron que este retiro de Confirmación fuera un éxito!

“The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said of Jesus, “He is possessed by Beelzebul, and by the prince of demons.” And he called them to him, and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” Mark 3:22-25.

“You will accomplish more with kind words and a courteous manner than by anger or sharp rebuke, which should never be used except in necessity.” St. Angela Merici.

Lord Jesus, sometimes we, like the scribes, say all sorts ugly things against our brothers and sisters; words bring divisions between us. You came to call us to unity and yet we militate against it by our irresponsible words. Give us Your Spirit that He may fill us with only words of wisdom which build. Amen.

"Lograrás más con palabras amables y modales corteses que con ira o reprensión severa, que nunca debe usarse excepto en necesidad." Santa Ángela Merici.

Señor Jesús, a veces nosotros, como los escribas, decimos toda clase de cosas feas contra nuestros hermanos y hermanas; Las palabras traen divisiones entre nosotros. Has venido a llamarnos a la unidad y, sin embargo, nosotros militamos contra ella con nuestras palabras irresponsables. Danos Tu Espíritu para que Él nos llene solo con palabras de sabiduría que edifican. Amén.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18-19.

“Grant that I may be an act of love, a gift of love, a service of love, a conversation of love, a communion of love.” St. Justin Maria Russolillo.

Lord Jesus, the Spirit empowered You to proclaim the Word of God to those who needed it. It is the “other” that You went out for: the poor, captives, blind, and oppressed. Each category of people needs to hear that special word, a word which is good news to them. Empower Your Church to always be faithful in announcing this good news to everyone who needs it. Amen.

"El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque me ha ungido para anunciar las buenas nuevas a los pobres. Él me ha enviado a proclamar la libertad a los cautivos y la vista a los ciegos, a poner en libertad a los oprimidos, a proclamar el año de gracia del Señor". Lucas 4:18-19.

"Concédeme ser un acto de amor, un don de amor, un servicio de amor, una conversación de amor, una comunión de amor" San Justino María Russolillo.

Señor Jesús, el Espíritu te dio el poder de proclamar la Palabra de Dios a aquellos que la necesitaban. Es el "otro" por el que saliste: los pobres, los cautivos, los ciegos y los oprimidos. Cada categoría de personas necesita escuchar esa palabra especial, una palabra que es una buena noticia para ellos. Empodera a Tu Iglesia para que siempre sea fiel en anunciar estas buenas nuevas a todos los que las necesiten. Amén.

“Never, ever, think that you can’t be forgiven and sent on mission. Look what Jesus did with Saul.” Bishop Barron.

Holy Lord, we are greatly blessed by the wisdom and courage of St. Paul, but we also thank You for his example. Paul was persecuting the Church, imprisoning, allowing murder, and yet You chose him. You made of him a great saint. Through the intercession of St. Paul, may we too become your saints. Amen.

Santo Señor, somos grandemente bendecidos por la sabiduría y el coraje de San Pablo, pero también te damos gracias por su ejemplo. Pablo estaba persiguiendo a la Iglesia, encarcelando, permitiendo el as*****to, y sin embargo, Tú lo elegiste. Hiciste de él un gran santo. Por la intercesión de san Pablo, también nosotros nos convirtamos en tus santos. Amén.
