On the bench today a 1987 G&L ASAT. This one has a history. It was given to the owner by.... wait for it ... Mr . Leo Fender! It came to me needing some serious work. It had been left in a car and developed a 5/16” bend caused by the heat of the car it was left in. I’m told many luthiers tried to fix but all they did was tighten the truss rod to the point neck developed a split in the glue joint on the back of the neck. I was able to fix the truss rod, flatten the neck with heat sanding , filled the split on the neck, and re-fretted.Friends, this is the best sounding T style guitar I’ve heard. Perfect balance of s***k, bottom end , and sparkle. BTW, this guitar earned every bump and bruise on the road. Real roadworn!!!
