Yesterday, our Holy Trinity Cathedral Greek School students welcomed the beauty of spring by creating traditional flower wreaths in celebration of Protomagia (May 1st)!🌸

This Greek custom, observed on May 1st, is a joyful way to honor nature, renewal, and the coming of summer. Wreaths are lovingly crafted from fresh flowers and greenery, then hung on doors as a symbol of life, growth, and blessing for the home.

Through hands-on traditions, our students connect to the richness of Greek culture and heritage in a way that stays with them!

We also expanded our language skills by learning new Greek spring vocabulary!

Join us for Orthodox Film Series | EL TONTO POR CRISTO, an evening of film, faith, and fellowship.

On May 31 at 5:00PM at Kan-Kan Cinema, a special screening of El Tonto Por Cristo —a visually striking film that invites reflection on humility, sacrifice, and the beauty of a life rooted in Christ.

Set at a fictional Eastern Orthodox monastery on the Texas Gulf, the film follows Father John and his community through a landscape that feels both ancient and startlingly alive. Grounded in a distinctly American, Southern space, the film draws comparisons to European masters like Tarkovsky, Bergman, and Tarr.

Χριστός Ανέστη! Christ Is Risen!

By the grace of God, on April 18, 2026, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Stavronikitas Damianakis was ordained to the Holy Diaconate through the laying on of hands by His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Detroit—who was also in attendance.

Surrounded by clergy, family, and faithful, we gathered in worship during Orthros and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy to celebrate this sacred step. The ordination to the diaconate is a calling to serve Christ and His Church with humility, devotion, and love.

May God grant him many years of faithful service at His Holy Altar. Axios! Axios! Axios!

Congratulations and may God bless and protect Deacon Stavronikitas, Diakonessa Kristen, and their family!
