We are a small Presbyterian church located in historic Carlton Minnesota. You won't get lost in the crowd in our church--everyone will welcome you by name. Worship begins at 10:00 a.m Sunday and the hospitality continues after the service with treats and coffee if you would like to stay. Come as you are--you will feel comfortable in our church wearing jeans or dressing up--dress as you prefer. Our
worship leaders come from a variety of faiths--Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Methodist. Our members find that studying the word of God from a variety of perspectives deepens our understanding. In the summer months, we worship in our historic sanctuary. In the winter months, we worship in our fellowship hall--at table with a warm beverage--just like the early Christians. This practice has allowed us to be good stewards of our heating dollars and channel our resources into more meaningful church projects. We are a mission-driven church. We are proud of the impact we have on our community as a small church. Some examples of the organizations that we continue to support are:
- Northern Lakes Food Bank and The Backpack Program
- Salvation Army
- Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV)
- Local Schools
- Many Thrivent Action Projects that benefitted specific individuals in the community
In 2020, J.M. Paine Presbyterian of Carlton and First Presbyterian of Wrenshall came together to form River's Edge Presbyterian Church. Paine and First Presbyterian served their respective communities for more than 100 years. We will continue to serve our communities as the River's Edge. We are proud of our history, but you will see the sign outside our church saying, "Come into the future with us." We are definitely looking forward as a congregation. We want to continue to worship together, introduce others to the Word of God, and continue to have a positive impact on our community.
