John 15:7 If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.

This Scripture is key to understanding prayers and how they are answered. My mama was a prayer warrior. We would go to her to pray for us. It seemed like she had a direct pipeline to Jesus. Her prayers always seemed to be answered for what was prayed for. It is not that she had an easy life. She did not. She and our daddy grew up during the great depression of the 1930’s. It is not that she got everything she asked for. Mama and daddy would do without things to provide for me, my brothers, and my sister. But mama was able to find peace, joy, and comfort in any answer Jesus provided. At the time we could not understand why, but this passage answers that question. Mama was a godly woman. She told us we should live according to God's Word and His will. With her whole heart, this is what she did.

Christians are members of the body of Christ, and we are one with Him. Jesus is the radiance of God's glory and the exact expression of His nature (Hebrews 1:3). For Him to remain (live) in us we must remain (live) in Him. This is a mutual fellowship that is conditional in that we must die to self to live for Him. It was years before we understood this is what Mama did. When you live with Jesus as the center of your life you will find peace, comfort, and joy in His answers to your prayers.

Father, thank You that we have been saved by Your grace through our faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on a cross. Help us keep our thoughts in agreement with Your thoughts, our actions pleasing to You, and our words spoken in love. Lord, we pray our hearts grow to be more like the heart of Jesus. As we pray Father, may Your will be done, not ours. In Jesus' saving and holy name we pray. Amen.

Romans 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Some religious practices can be confusing. The Mosaic Law contained dietary restrictions as well as restrictions that applied to the Sabbath. Some of these laws were still observed and adhered to, even after Jesus declared it was not what went into a man's mouth that defiled him, it was what came out of his mouth, what a person says (Matthew 15:11). So, which practices are important or right? Read Your Bible and interpret Scripture in the whole context in which it is written. Ask Holy Spirit to guide you.

Following Jesus is not about a particular religion or denomination, it is about a relationship. It is about your intimate loving relationship with your Lord and Savior. Sin inhibits that relationship. God and His word determine what sin is, not man. As a Christian you should willingly allow Holy Spirit to guide you in all righteousness. You can then experience peace as you live in a sinful world by reflecting the nature of Jesus. As for experiencing joy; Jesus states in John 15:11, "I have spoken these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete." Joy is an outward expression of inner contentment.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day to serve You. Thank You Jesus that through You we are able to be called children of the most high God. Thank You that our salvation does not depend on keeping rituals or certain practices but comes by God’s grace through our faith in You and Your finished work on a cross. Help us to be considerate of others as we follow Holy Spirit, being obedient and humble servants. In Your precious and holy name we pray. Amen.

John 15:13 NKJV “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Here in the United States of America today holds a special meaning for us. Today we remember with gratitude and honor the brave men and women of the United States Military who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The freedom they died to protect is the same freedom that is sometimes taken for granted. “Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: Jesus Christ and American Military Personnel. One died for your soul; the other died for your freedom.” This quote is often attributed to Dennis Edward O’Brien, a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Every freedom we enjoy today carries a price paid for by someone else. Every earthly sacrifice points us toward an even greater sacrifice. We are free to openly worship; to raise our families; to speak openly; and to pursue our calling in life. Those freedoms are made possible through someone’s sacrifice.

There’s an even greater freedom purchased at an even greater cost. Jesus Christ freely laid down His sinless life so sinful people could be free from the penalty of sin and have victory over death. This is a free gift from Jesus, but you must accept His gift in your heart to have eternal life with Him. If you have not done this yet, do it today, right now. Today is the day of salvation.

Father, today we thank You for every man and woman who sacrificed their lives serving our country. Comfort every grieving family. Help us to never take freedom lightly. Most of all, thank You for Jesus Christ who gave His life on a cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Teach us to live lives worthy of Jesus’ finished work on a cross. In His powerful and redeeming name we pray. Amen.

Of course we will be honoring our Lord and Savior who freely laid down His sinless life so sinful people could have freedom from the power and penalty of sin.

Matthew 8:2-3 And a l***r came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Jesus stretched our His hand and touched him saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately is leprosy was cleansed.

Leprosy was considered a curse. It was evident by the appearance of the skin, it was ugly. Lepers were cut off from contact with society. They had to tear their clothes, uncover their head and cover their lips. When someone got close to them, they had to call out, "unclean, unclean"! They were to stay outside the camp. They weren’t allowed in the synagogue. For all practical purposes, they were outcasts. This l***r worked up the courage to approach Jesus. He had faith that if Jesus was willing, He could cure this dreaded disease. Through Jesus, he knew he could be made clean!

Can you, or someone you know, identify with the l***r? Due to your past, or a current situation, do you feel "cut-off" from others? Do you feel your life is hopeless? Is there something going on in your life right now that makes you feel as an outcast at church or in your relationship with the Lord? Has sin affected your life like leprosy had this man's? Be like the l***r. Muster up the courage to approach Jesus with faith. He’s ready, willing and able to cleanse you from your impurities. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).

Thank You Father for Your indescribable gift! Praise Jesus! Lord, You are filled with love, grace, and mercy that You abundantly pour out on Your children. We certainly don’t deserve it, but You give it to us anyway. Jesus help us during the struggles in our lives, when we feel dirty and defeated. Help us remember that You love us and You will comfort, guide, and cleanse us. Give us Your strength Lord as we negotiate life in a dark and sinful world. It’s in Your sweet, powerful, and holy name we pray. Amen.
