Today we celebrate the workers whose hands, hearts, creativity, and care keep our communities and this country going. We give thanks for the dignity of work, for those who came before us in the struggle for fair and safe working conditions, and for all who continue that work today.

We continue to push toward a world where everyone can have meaningful work, a living wage, time for rest, and the dignity every person deserves. Happy Labor Day from Pilgrim UCC! ✊✊🏿✊🏽❤️

This past Sunday, some of our youth and families spent the day at Chicano Park in Barrio Logan - a place where art, culture, and community tell the story of resilience.

More than 80 vibrant murals cover the pillars beneath the Coronado Bridge, each one bearing witness to a community that refused to let its neighborhood be forgotten. Years ago, when residents learned that promised parkland had instead become a highway patrol station, they organized, put their bodies on the line, occupied the land, and transformed it into one of the most significant collections of Chicano public art in the world.

As we walked through the park together, we were reminded that faith isn't only found inside church walls and certainly not just Sunday School. Sometimes it looks like neighbors standing together. Sometimes it looks like art that refuses to let history be erased. Sometimes it looks like hope painted in brilliant colors for future generations to inherit.
